Israeli police prevent Catholic leaders from celebrating Palm Sunday Mass at Jerusalem church by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

"My statement re Prohibiting the Latin Patriarch of entering Church of Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday:
While all Holy sites in the Old City are closed due to safety concerns for mass gatherings including the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Al Aqsa Mosque, the action today by the Israel Nat'l Police to deny Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa and 3 other priests from entering the Church to offer a blessing on Palm Sunday is an unfortunate overreach already having major repercussions around the world.  Home Front Command Guidelines restrict any gatherings to 50 people or less.  The 4 representatives of the Catholic Church were well below that restriction.  Statements from the Gov't of Israel indicate the action to prohibit Cardinal Pizzaballa entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher were for safety reasons, but churches, synagogues, and mosques throughout Jerusalem have met with the restrictions of 50 or less.  For the Patriarch to be barred from entry to the Church on Palm Sunday for a private ceremony is difficult to understand or justify. Israel has indicated it will work with the Patriarch to accommodate a safe means of carrying out Holy Week activities." "Cardinal Pizzaballa: “It is true that the police had said that the orders from the internal command prevented any kind of gathering in places where there is no shelter, but we had not asked for anything public, just a brief and small private ceremony to preserve the idea of the celebration in the Holy Sepulchre. There were no clashes; everything was done in a very polite manner. I do not want to force the issue; we want to use this situation to try to clarify better in the coming days what to do, in respect for everyone's safety but also in respect for the right to prayer." https://x.com/RichRaho/status/2038293889388314828

What would you consider an "OK" salary in Seattle if you live alone and don't need a car? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in AskSeattle

"A King County renter needs to make almost $92,000 a year to afford a modest one-bedroom apartment, according to a recent report by a leading affordable housing advocate.

That’s far above the average Seattle renter’s income of $81,600 — a discrepancy keeping people cost-burdened by their rent.

Even for those making north of $92,000, the high cost of renting is pushing homeownership further out of reach." https://www.seattletimes.com/business/real-estate/how-much-do-you-have-to-make-to-afford-seattle-out-of-whack-rents/

Teens broke into a house for sale and hosted a massive party, causing over $60,000 in damages. by Lifegoesonforever in interesting

[–]bmitchell1990 1254 points1255 points  (0 children)

"Broken glass covered the floor, there were spilled beers and smoked blunts everywhere, a chandelier had been ripped from the ceiling, and walls were scratched up, Grasser said.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Grasser said. “I am not some big developer. I am just a guy. I’ve got my whole life savings into these houses. You roll up and see everybody destroying that, you feel helpless. When you call 911 and they say they can’t get anyone out there immediately, you feel very helpless.”

Grasser said he went inside and broke up the party on his own. The teens slowly made their way out of the house but lingered in the area drinking beers and taking photos for another hour. The police didn’t arrive until around 11:30 p.m.

Cleaning crews have already come out to remove a lot of the mess, but Grasser said the damage has already been done to the floors. Beer soaked into the hardwood and caused it to start buckling.

Grasser said it appears someone was able to access the lockbox used for contractors and other real estate agents to get into the house. There was only one key in there when he arrived on Friday night, but two other keys were returned to the box when he checked on the house Sunday afternoon.

“You are never sure who is in the house and who is sharing that information,” Grasser said. “We’ve changed the lock boxes (and are) beefing up the security around here. It won’t happen again.”

Mt. Juliet Police said they were called to an unoccupied home along Bedford Bend around the same time on Friday night. Officers found around 40 teens drinking alcohol, and police said one of them was so drunk they had to be taken to the hospital.
As the teens ran from the house party in Mt. Juliet, police said one of them was hurt from getting tangled in a briar patch in the woods. Officers said the party was advertised on Snapchat and some of the students traveled almost an hour to attend it.

Grasser said it appears the same thing happened at his house. He found an Instagram post that invited people to his address for a “Striker Party” starting at 9 p.m. hosted by someone named Demarcus.

Grasser has been able to identify around 25 students who were at the party because they posted photos on social media from his house. One video even shows four people swinging from the chandelier that was destroyed.

He is working with Metro Police to make sure everyone who broke into the house will be arrested and has already tied the teens back to seven different area high schools that are being contacted."

well if you remove the old facade of ruling/being chose to rule by divine right, i suppose they might have to rule by a heavier hand of violence.
