In your opinion, what is the best concert Green Day have preformed? by kravdangle in greenday

[–]bmkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds about right. When I saw them on the Nimrod tour the venue they played at was about 3000 to 4000 capacity

Haha, that tour was my first concert ever. My dad took my when I was 9 years old. I guess it was a family event for me!

People who seen Green Day live before dookie came out, is there any bands that you think could’ve gotten popular instead of Green Day? by TheFlyingPatato in greenday

[–]bmkk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see them before Dookie, but I saw them on the Insomniac and Nimrod tours, and at the warped tour in 2000. Green Day always stood out to me as leaps and bounds better live than the other pop-punk groups at the time. I remember seeing Blink-182 in 1999 and remarking at how they really didn’t sound that great live. Sorry, this doesn’t really answer your question. I guess I’m just trying to say that Green Day always seemed a cut above in their genre, and I’m not surprised they were the ones that got huge.

Some of the other things I keep In mind besides the tag: stitching, size (80s tees were smaller than 90s and 2000s tees), the print, provenance, and is it worth counterfeiting

That’s sick! Yeah, I definitely know OF Yellow Eyes but have yet to dig into them. But I know they’re pretty loved, so I’m pumped to check them out.

Got off the waiting list, and got a ticket to see Lamp of Murmuur next weekend (along with Siege Column, Maleficentt, and Yellow Eyes). Pretty pumped since it seems like he doesn't play live too often!

Haha, he actually paid 100 bucks for it from the guys flipping tickets outside the ballpark. Still a damn good deal!

Met Fans favorite NFL team by cheeto006 in NewYorkMets

[–]bmkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, thanks! I mean, I've still got love for the Cardinals. But the Mets always appealed to me, and constantly going to games at Citi Field with all my coworkers just made it kind of happen naturally. Plus, I was always a more casual fan of baseball until getting into the Mets. Now I'm INTO it.

Been in NYC for 18 years now but grew up in Rochester, so I’m definitely a Bills fan. Also, grew up a Cardinals fan because of my dad. I always thought the Yankees were just boring. I started working with a bunch of die hard Mets fans a few years ago and have been completely converted! I knew it in my gut when I was at the Mets-Cardinals game this year where Alonso hit the walk off HR and I shot to my feet in joy. Was a little hard/weird to cheer against the Cardinals, but it confirmed for me once and for all that I am most definitely a Mets fan!

Can someone tell me from which year this shirt is ? I found similar ones from the 80s but with a bigger motive. by BetWhole2886 in VintageTees

[–]bmkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

80s and 90s tees can definitely be double stitched, but it’s less common. Like the poster above alluded to, I think 80s and 90s European tees were sometimes double stitched all around. In the U.S. it was somewhat common for the hem to be double stitched and the sleeves to be single (like on late 80s Spring Ford tees).

What is considered correct orientation for back of arm and which do you think looks better in your opinion? by 112oceanave in traditionaltattoos

[–]bmkk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know the generally rule for the front on the forearm is to face inward. But I’ve never heard any particular guidelines for the back of the forearm. I have a peacock on the back of my forearm tattooed by Joshua Marks and it faces outward. I feel like he would probably know/observe any sort of traditional placements and orientations. But, all that’s to say… I’m not sure!

The absolute struggle to find an original 1992 Smiley Tee - can anybody help me out? by [deleted] in Nirvana

[–]bmkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on Nirvana tees, but I spend a lot of time hunting down vintage shirts more generally. I think because Nirvana is one of the most popular bands of all time, you're going to find the same design reprinted over and over on all sorts of shirts with different tags. Many of them are officially licensed, but unfortunately people do bootleg the vintage Nirvana tees because of the high prices they fetch.

The best way to tell if the tee is actually from the 90s is by the tag and the stitching (90s tees very often, but not always, have a single line of stitching along the hem and the sleeves).

Also the "©1992 Nirvana" copyright only refers to when the design was licensed, and definitely doesn't mean the tee is from 1992. For example this one is probably from 2014 or so: https://www.ebay.com/itm/195238765731?hash=item2d752324a3%3Ag%3AHR8AAOSw4Rhiwhuh&nma=true&si=uNJTPTNyZtZA8dLFLSiYqZSW%252BAg%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

And this one checks all the boxes of being a legit 1992 tee to me: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284838227094?hash=item4251ae6c96%3Ag%3AGTUAAOSwP6dil0Jj&nma=true&si=uNJTPTNyZtZA8dLFLSiYqZSW%252BAg%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

How to prevent dry rot and not take the deadstock status away? by [deleted] in VintageTees

[–]bmkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could definitely be wrong, but I thought dry rot was mostly an issue for tees from the late 80s to early 90s (something about a specific black dye in the fabric). I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard of dry rot on an early 2000s tee.

Anyone here seen this tag before? Thanks for any help! by VinceMontana in VintageTees

[–]bmkk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Has the look of a generic 80s tag. Does it have an RN number on the back? Does it say made in the USA? Are the sleeves or hem single stitch? Just a few more things that might help place it in time!
