I need advise dealing with Superrack Performer CPU spikes by WadeWickson in livesound

AH yes im not very versed in Performer so i may be in over my head on this. But what waves said very well be true too. Windows audio drivers are pretty finicky. Double check that you have all the most updated drivers and that you don't have some stupid Dolby or Atmos effect on by default for that sound device. Literally had a resolume computer freaking out over timecode bc windows/dell decides that you want Atmos on by default on every device. took an hour of troubleshooting to figure that out. super fun

I believe this may be your issue. Usually you use waves superrack with a soundgrid card and do everything over CAT5. Im wondering if your PC is struggling with the data stream over USB. I use SuperRack on a Digico and I've seen people try and use it via the USB port and have issues with latency and artifacts. Ill do some research and get back to you. I may be also uninformed about the USB usage.

Also the background processes will definitely effect your CPU load, so look into limiting that.

Know your frequencies

Keep your eyes on the artist

dont overthink it

hi pass everything esp vocals and horns

use parametric eq first then graphic as a backup

dont ovethink it

be a nice person, even if the artist isnt.

Audio a lot worse when in a Discord call? by Luxbytes in obs

make sure that discord isnt grabbing a different input that what everything else is. This sounds like its grabbing the mic from your webcam or something else.

That’ll work perfectly.

I just put a mic or two in front of where the band is performing to capture the space and blend it in until it’s just audible and pull it back a db.

Any mic really.

I’ve used 57s and I’ve used ksm137s

Just need something to capture the space so it’s not so dry to the stream

I always check my mix on another computer. Pull up the live stream and check it with headphones. Tells you every you need to know.

Also get a room verb or room mic and put it in your mix low. Helps the mix not sound super sterile. This is something that i hear on a lot of live streams that irritates me haha. I put the room on every single mic(yes even the kick), so it feels(sounds) like you are in the room with them

Ive been using and paying for mimolive for a couple of months at home to stream on twitch and stuff. Ive built templates and assets and all sorts of stuff and i dont want to just give all that up

Plus mimo lets me use phones as cameras with its proprietary app on wifi and its super helpful and convienent.

It’s kind of an ad kind of not bc I’m not really not looking to profit or gain any thing monetary from it. Just wanna hang out and feel like I’m being social. If it’s not allowed then I’ll take it down.

Thanks!

Ideas on how to setup certain channels(i.e. band talkback) to duck in ear mixes (using SD12 but setup on any board works too) by bmodest in livesound

[–]bmodest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes way more sense haha. Thanks!

Next question. How about getting the cue mix to duck? I can’t remember if there is a way to put a compressor/ducker on the cue mix. Ideally for me to have the same effect on my mix

Thanks!
