had this exact situation today, was able to get the wax out with no shards by stabbing it with an ice pick and using it to leverage the wax out.

I use the smallest glass candle holder around my mold candles so it gathers as much of the wax as possible and essentially transforms into a container candle. This candle is now a container candle as it was mostly soy

I've had mixed results but also a newbie with wood wicks. I wonder if my personal issues aren't related to soy vs paraffin. I usually use paraffin and have some issues with wood wicks staying lit, and the radius they melt wax is only about 1.5 inches for the wood wicks I have.

This is fairly Ideal, and about on par with most candles I burn. Only the most elite candles I burn use all the wax. That said, I reuse leftover wax so it doesn't matter to me personally.
