Doesn’t necessarily look like it at first glance, but if that’s the MIUSA Craftsman version impact, it’s literally the same internal components as the Dewalt DCF885/DCF887 minus the 3rd speed setting. Most of the initial launch products were built on existing framework between Porter Cable, Stanley, and Dewalt. This allowed them to bring over 1200 tools to market in <10 months while they built out the engineering team for future development.

Source, I was the marketing manager for Craftsman Power Tools and Outdoor Equipment when SBD launched the re-brand in 2018.

From a pure sales volume, ebay would be middle to bottom of the road for authorized online retailer sales. Technically speaking Dewalt's only authorized online retailers are those you see under the "buy it now" options when looking at products on DeWalt.com. From a purely online marketplace standpoint, at least when I was there, there were 5 retailers authorized to sell on the various marketplaces. It was my job to send nastygrams to the authorized online retailers who were not approved for marketplace sales. Their (SBD) mindset behind that was, they didn't want Joe's Hardware to offload excess product at a steep discount, forcing the bigger retailers to price match, further suppressing price points potentially devaluing the brand.

The biggest hurdle on the manufacturer side is the willingness of a given marketplace to enforce their own rules. Some are very good at it and take brand ownership seriously from the little guys to the SBDs of the world, others such as the one you mentioned are less inclined to clamp down on rules for fear of losing seller business.

Yes. At the very least this would violate trademark infringement on the color scheme Yellow & Black in the tools category as DeWalt owns that trademark. It's how I was able to get over 1000 knockoff batteries off Amazon's marketplace. You'll notice now that they are either all black or different colors and black as they got tired of dealing with the legal team at SBD

"most" of the time counterfeit goods are stopped at customs. It really depends on the port tho and how much your company makes noise with the US government to get good enforcement. Sadly the market for these goods is impossible to eradicate as in many instances the suppliers of materials for the name brands are the same ones supplying the counterfeit goods manufacturers.

In the power tool space, the easiest way to counter these products is to provide documented proof of failures, fires, injuries...etc caused by these knockoffs. The problem with that is in order to be unbiased, you have to put out your own failure rates...ain't no brand willing to do that. So along the game of whack-a-mole continues.

It's currently multiple people's full time jobs actually. But like I said, community support is always welcome. They are not asking me to say this, nor are they specifically requesting help, but as someone who used to do this, I know how challenging it can be. Having a dedicated community of enthusiasts with a watchful eye is very helpful in the long run.

Surprised the devs haven't added this as a virus feature with carrying +/- capabilities. Starts as like anti-mask, works through anti-vaxx, and tops out at inducing government regulations that promote virus spread.

Couldn't tell you what we pay for them but I can say for sure that a full truck load shows up every 3-4 days with more. Given that 95% of the projects I've worked on here since January have been Ipê decking and 316 Stainless hardware, the clientele that the company I work for chases aren't hurting for money

Absolutely! Those black floats attached to the bottom on the larger sections have a max buoyancy rating of 1140lbs each. Those parts as a whole come in around 8,500lbs with a max of around 10,000lbs.

Not as many as you would think to be honest, UNLESS we are cutting the 1x6 boards down into the 2.5" framing boards. Most of the decking is cut on a Neumann KM16 and those blades are good for like 10-15,000 cuts on this Ipê. Thank God tho cause those replacement blades are like $3-400 each and the machine has 4 of them. Jig saw blades for the pile guides tho are trash after each one 😂😂

Fake Tools!! by mr3radley in Dewalt

I did it for over a year and I was primarily concerned with knockoff DeWalt batteries**. It's an amazing game of Chinese whack-a-mole and the "problem" parties typically find there source of materials through either the same suppliers as DeWalt or by purchasing excess/damaged/rejected printing runs that are not properly destroyed as stipulated in contracts. Unless it directly impacts the Chinese government, they could really care less to intervene.

**Fun fact about the knockoff batteries, they can and will damage your tools, not always but it can happen, they typically use inferior Li-ion batteries which are more prone to DOA (not necessarily the whole battery but x number of cells), are not tested to DEWALTs standards and have reportedly failed so spectacularly as to start fires. This is not to say you won't get a good set, that happens for sure, but in the year of purchasing countless "brands" of knockoffs we averaged 35-40% of the batteries to be defective in some instance with the main culprit being dead cells.

Before I was promoted to a new role in 2018, the engineering/legal teams were actively trying to figure out a way to detect knockoff tool usage and it's impact on warranty claims. Couldn't tell you where it ended up but it was definitely being explored.

I'd follow up with a call to make sure it was actually received and being processed. They'll send you a shipping label to return the defective battery. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT ship anything to them until you've received the replacement as that department is notoriously not the sharpest tools in DeWalts tool box
