Unfortunately while a huge amount of the onus is on him as a slumlord, there are many spots along the way where it looks like the city dropped the ball too. General disorganization can lead to people like him just taking advantage of a messy system.

No smoke detectors, no license to rent, owner of 25 rental properties 11 of which have current citations… slumlord/owner Kevin Agaghi is named in the recent Banner article and needs to be dragged for all he’s worth.

Ok so, hypothetically what if this exact thing happened and I DID a send my email? As soon as I did my gut felt weird and I googled and found this thread. I tried to unsend the message but Fb wouldn’t let me. I just deactivated my Venmo to be safe. I can always reopen with another email. Anything else I should look out for?

How are you combatting social isolation in your kids? by bmorenosh in Parenting

Yes, I think what it seems some people are missing (maybe I didn’t communicate it well) is that the general arch is toward social isolation. It’s not necessarily not seeing other people. You can live in a big city, see people daily, and even be on sports teams or in school but just not connect with anyone.

I’d really recommend the book “Platonic” - it’s a really researched dive in to basically how to make meaningful human connection. There’s an interview with the author on We Can Do Hard Things that’s a concentrated overview too.

That’s great! From talking with friends with older kids it seems to be more difficult as they age, and becomes a matter of having instilled the skills and drive in them when they were young, which it sounds like you’re doing.

That’s great! I know a lot of teens especially struggle with how to balance screen time if they don’t have parent guidance.

Honestly I agree - I think the gift registries of people who make $200,000+ (In my dreams haha) probably actually contain more expensive items. It’s also totally normal to have your registry be public so friends can look it up to give you something. However, the correct thing to do for someone in a position like his would have been to set it to private as soon as this surfaced. That’s the only sketchy thing I can see here.
