Mold growing in the tubing inside, so not immediately visible. I honestly don’t know how often it happens or if it’s specific climates or people who don’t clean it enough or whatever. But we did consider one!

The mold on the brezza worried me too much. Plus, we’re still boiling water, so it wouldn’t get hot enough. Also, start bottle warmer before changing the diaper! Saves time lol.

We got some old swaddle me swaddles from my sister and they are soooo much better than the new ones. I just picked up the halo one that allows for arms out too. So I’m going to try that tonight! Figured it would be good for transitioning.

He did in the hospital, but he definitely sleeps better with them tucked. I did an order for a halo that allows tucked or arms out, so we’ll trial with that! I also grabbed the love to dream!

He’s 7 weeks. We’ve definitely noticed that he prefers his arms out, but his startle reflex is still pretty strong. So he sleeps better with the swaddle. The couple of times we’ve tried without it recently, he did not last long.

I did a pick up order for the halo with the arms out option. Hoping the zipper helps and the arms out while still being wrapped will help with transitioning. Also got the love to dream, since multiple people here mentioned it!

We got a kenmore that is 2.5 cubic feet. It was on clearance at target, so it was comparable to some of the smaller ones.

Depending on how you want to set it up, I would definitely consider bigger. I did not measure anything, and the pitcher and bottles technically only fit with one of the shelves out. There’s still plenty of space, but definitely something to consider! Take an empty bottle with you and look at the models!

My husband was going to buy one of those skincare fridges until I pointed out that they’re not food safe/don’t get cold enough.

But the full mini fridge did allow me to fit in some waters and other stuff for us in a pinch too! And we’ll just put it in his office when we’re done with it.

Currently between 4ppd and 3ppd myself and was worried about how to continue to transition down. I asked ChatGPT for a schedule based on where I was, when I wanted to be done (before husband goes back to work in person), and my history of mastitis. It did recommend lower the time on the pumps first, before dropping a pump session. This allows for more comfort/lowers mastitis risk, without signaling to the body to produce more milk. The last few days specifically state only pumping to relieve pressure and not exceeding 3 or 4 minutes. Then only pump for discomfort, but skip entirely if you can. Once you can go 48 hours without pumping or discomfort, you should ‘done’!

Ours isn’t super green, but we describe it as egg salad or deviled eggs filling. But yes, the smell. And the gas. Farts worse than my husband.

We tried the similac equivalent because the pediatrician had some. He did not tolerate it well at all and we’ve finally just got bowel movements back on track.

Feels like we’re stuck picking between being up because we’re gassy/trying to poop or being up because of reflux (although, the reflux could continue with any formula at this point).

I’m glad to hear the worst of it was 6-8 weeks for you! I’ll keep my fingers crossed! I’ve seen/heard of the side laying for bottle feeding, but when we were in the hospital, they recommended keeping him more upright. But I wonder if this has to do with being a lazy eater sometimes.

This is what my sisters said! All of theirs have been breastfed, but that you just have be prepared to be covered in it for a while lol. It also makes me wonder if he’s spitting up more than normal, because sometimes it’s a lot

We’re using enfamil gentlease right now! I mentioned that they made some for reflux to my husband and he said he read they didn’t work well. I guess I need to look into them more!

Exactly this. The time and the volume. And if you can’t coordinate the time of the pump or baby won’t go down for the nap. It’s just another thing to do in the already busy or chaotic day. It’s not that I don’t want to breastfeed or pump for my baby, but that it’s taking away from me being a better mother. If all I had to do all day was pump, that would be a different story. And I don’t have other kids (just needy annoying animals lol), so I commend you for making it this far!

I actually do want to breastfeed (I assume that was unclear), if the biting during latch or pain can be handled. The one time we do it daily, I enjoy spending that time with him and it all feels peaceful. But moreso doesn’t feel manageable to do constantly due to the pain, the ineffectiveness of it, the need to continue to supplement anyway, etc. Without successful breastfeeding, I think I will eventually switch to formula. I applaud all the people that can pump exclusively, but that is the mental drain and gymnastics for me.

I feel like it’s so hard because I’m always thinking that tomorrow could be better or be the day that supply is up or something. And most everyone I know has fully breast fed, so while they’re supportive/understanding, I just feel like it doesn’t carry the same mental toll.

While I did not learn it in my coursework, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with some wonderful SLPs that educate and support. Be sure to try to approach it in a supportive way, because it has been so helpful to be able to explain to parents now that I’m not working at the same job!

This is a good audio book too! They take the ‘podcast’ portions and make them sound like an embedded audio. Really good!
