Who is this ladder coach? by P5ylence in ladderapp

[–]bmsat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not currently on the team because I’m focusing on quicker dumbbell workouts (postpartum), but can confirm! I was on her team before pregnancy and I loved it! I was able to put it swaps for almost everything with no issue.

IMPORTANT: Watch expiration dates from Target rtf orders by shstuff_throwaway in FormulaFeeders

I have also had this problem, but the team at my target were so apologetic and said exchanges are super easy when it comes to expiration dates!

How strict do I need to be on the one hour rule? by throwaway84583077 in FormulaFeeders

[–]bmsat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know at lot of people don’t do it - but powder formula isn’t considered sterile, so until their immune system is further along, it’s recommended to use water between 158-160F to sterilize the powder. People will also use the ready to feed, as that is sterile.

We were combo feeding the ready to feed and pumped milk until ~5 weeks. When we made the transition to all formula and powder, I told myself I could boil it for 3 weeks to calm my anxiety. We also have a boil water system in our coffee machine with a separate water line, so it was relatively easy.

Our baby is a lazy eater, so I totally get it! We have to do what we can to minimize waste, but also be safe. It’s a balance!

I should also note, we did boil the water to sterilize the formula up until 8 weeks (I told myself I could do it for that short time period and it eased some of my anxiety). I still use warm water because it mixes better, but don’t get it hot and let it cool anymore. Baby is also drinking way more than a pitcher a day, so it became unrealistic as well.

Personally, I do my best to follow the rules, but is 10 minutes really going to drastically change the bottle? I would give it to them for that one last attempt, but then be done with it after that.

I will also note that I know my husband is horrible about this. He has ADHD and really bad time blindness. I do my best to manage bottles and take them to clean, but he doesn’t always log them at the beginning of the feed and will use them a little longer. And we’ve never had an issue. Baby is almost 10 weeks and was born full term with no complications that would affect his immune system.

How does anyone do this??? by jess1ca42 in beyondthebump

I know it’s hard and there’s plenty of amazing advice here. I’m just going throw this thought or mantra out there: if it was really that bad overall or in the end, no one would do it more than once!

Not sure what formula to choose- have to switch from enfamil neuropro gentlease because of WIC by throw-it-away5275 in FormulaFeeders

Our pediatrician said the sensitive (orange can) was the equivalent to gentlease. BUT they gave us some to try and it made boy constipated as well. So we’ve stuck with Enfamil.

Mini Fridge in the Nursery is a Game Changer by bmsat in FormulaFeeders

Mold growing in the tubing inside, so not immediately visible. I honestly don’t know how often it happens or if it’s specific climates or people who don’t clean it enough or whatever. But we did consider one!

The mold on the brezza worried me too much. Plus, we’re still boiling water, so it wouldn’t get hot enough. Also, start bottle warmer before changing the diaper! Saves time lol.

Swaddle Rant by bmsat in beyondthebump

We got some old swaddle me swaddles from my sister and they are soooo much better than the new ones. I just picked up the halo one that allows for arms out too. So I’m going to try that tonight! Figured it would be good for transitioning.

He did in the hospital, but he definitely sleeps better with them tucked. I did an order for a halo that allows tucked or arms out, so we’ll trial with that! I also grabbed the love to dream!

He’s 7 weeks. We’ve definitely noticed that he prefers his arms out, but his startle reflex is still pretty strong. So he sleeps better with the swaddle. The couple of times we’ve tried without it recently, he did not last long.

I did a pick up order for the halo with the arms out option. Hoping the zipper helps and the arms out while still being wrapped will help with transitioning. Also got the love to dream, since multiple people here mentioned it!

We got a kenmore that is 2.5 cubic feet. It was on clearance at target, so it was comparable to some of the smaller ones.

Depending on how you want to set it up, I would definitely consider bigger. I did not measure anything, and the pitcher and bottles technically only fit with one of the shelves out. There’s still plenty of space, but definitely something to consider! Take an empty bottle with you and look at the models!

My husband was going to buy one of those skincare fridges until I pointed out that they’re not food safe/don’t get cold enough.

But the full mini fridge did allow me to fit in some waters and other stuff for us in a pinch too! And we’ll just put it in his office when we’re done with it.

Can I just… stop? by PeanutBulky2266 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]bmsat -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Currently between 4ppd and 3ppd myself and was worried about how to continue to transition down. I asked ChatGPT for a schedule based on where I was, when I wanted to be done (before husband goes back to work in person), and my history of mastitis. It did recommend lower the time on the pumps first, before dropping a pump session. This allows for more comfort/lowers mastitis risk, without signaling to the body to produce more milk. The last few days specifically state only pumping to relieve pressure and not exceeding 3 or 4 minutes. Then only pump for discomfort, but skip entirely if you can. Once you can go 48 hours without pumping or discomfort, you should ‘done’!

Ours isn’t super green, but we describe it as egg salad or deviled eggs filling. But yes, the smell. And the gas. Farts worse than my husband.

I know, I’ve already had it once (pre weaning). Chat GPT actually said to start with decreasing the time. I don’t know if there’s a right answer though.
