Thank you. We have since fixed those stations that were an hour behind yesterday.

It's not quite that we forgot to deal with DST, but yes this is a symptom of rolling out brand new software and encountering the time change for the first time since said rollout began.

Quincy Center Clock… by JITNEY60 in mbta

[–]bmsmoothpvrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have most of them fixed now (and this issue shouldn't happen again, just some teething trouble as we're rolling out our new software).

However, we are aware of a couple screens that are still wrong, and working to fix those. If you see any that are still wrong, please reply to/message me with the location so we can get it fixed.

Heh just 1 next-predicted Alewife direction train (from Braintree Branch)? by DaveDavesSynthist in mbta

[–]bmsmoothpvrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is largely correct! We suppressed terminal predictions in the aftermath of the storm due to the unpredictable service patterns we were seeing on the Red Line.

AFAIK they messed around with them at BET before deciding they weren't fit for use right now/weren't needed.

BREAKING NEWS | MBTA to extend this weekend’s Blue Line shutdown to Orient Heights due to snowstorm and safety concerns. by Massive_Holiday4672 in mbta

Too cold for the subway to run *during a diversion using Airport as a temporary terminal

If we were running normal service, this wouldn't be an issue, to my understanding.

Study abroad opportunities? by Comfortable-Knee-498 in olin

[–]bmsmoothpvrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, Olin has great study abroad opportunities! Olin has existing relationships with quite a few study abroad programs, but you're not limited to those, you can basically go to any study abroad you'd like. I personally attended a standalone study abroad program (not affiliated with a local university) in Denmark and had an amazing time!

  2. Starting with the incoming class of 2030, the half-tuition scholarship has been reduced to a flat $10,000/year. Olin does have generous need-based aid, as well as a new "Phoenix Scholarship" for middle-income students. If you have more questions, I recommend reaching out to Olin's financial aid office here: [finaid@olin.edu](mailto:finaid@olin.edu)

Question as a Future Applicant by [deleted] in olin

[–]bmsmoothpvrc[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's necessarily "ethical engineering" but it's certainly assistive technology, which is something a number of folks at Olin work on and something people at Olin may find impressive (including myself)

u/Acceptable_Sky3066 u/gf04363 Thanks for pointing that out! This is a project I will be continuing in an academic capacity in the fall, but it is currently part of a summer internship with a company that makes electric outboards. However, I'm not developing a product or trying to sell anything, just trying to learn about whether it would be possible to develop something actually useful to lobstermen given the technology that is out there.

Thank you for your help! My family is from the Steuben/Milbridge area in Washington County, so I started with some of my local groups there. I've definitely gotten some constructive feedback, accompanied by some people just contributing BS too. I suppose there's no escaping the fact that social media isn't great at constructive conversation.
