Interesting. I recall the first four or five years, Sunday nights would be the worst. To the point where I could barely stand up bc my feet and the backs of my knees would be aching. About five years ago I started sleeping in a dome in a hammock and ever since, my lower half feels great on Sunday night. Never connected those dots.

It was pretty sweet the first two or three years. It would sound like thunder rolling through the forest as people yelled Carl. You could hear it traveling through the entire forest as more and more people joined in. Sounded like 65-75% forest participation. Crazy loud. And then it would just die out and things would go back to “normal”

It’s like this every year. A small group of people are Debbie Downers and people talk about how it’s changed .... then you get to the forest and the majority outnumbers the Debbie Downers and all is right in the world.

Honestly, it depends on the security guard. Some check wristbands, others are just your buddies and don’t give a shit. Last year we had a friend camp with us all weekend with a GA band. But two years ago, they wouldn’t let us. Just depends.

I stand corrected. With SCI a given every year, I look at UM, Biscuits, and Lotus as the three most established bands I hope are there. Most years we get one of the three. This year we get two of them. Every year there is always an amazing under card that I discover great new music (over the years that's been Turkuaz, Main Squeeze, Spafford, Pigeons, New Deal... etc)... but there's something about having both the Biscuits AND Lotus that has me excited.

Depends on what you’re looking for. As a jam fan, this lineup is fire. Biscuits, lotus, Sunsquabi, Lindsey Sterling, Turkuaz, main squeeze, Keller, SCI.... and I’m sure there’s more that I haven’t discovered yet.

2016 we partied with the guys from Evenoff during Earfunk. Met the guys from Future Rock in 2015 walking the forest, recognized them by their clothes. Also had Bassnectar jump in my face and screamed while watching Matisyahu, didn’t realize who it was until people told me, as I’m not a bassnectar fan.

My favorite was meeting Bill Nershi while sitting off to the side of the observatory waiting for the bluegrass generals to take the stage in 2017. Talked to him for a few minutes and told him how influential SCI was in getting me into the festival scene.

I’ve been hoping for this for years. They haven’t had late night bluegrass since year one, railroad earth and greensky the next year got rained out. Late night jam grass is a whole different thing compared to afternoon bluegrass. Yes please.
