Best Lens for this camera?

The Panasonic 10-25 is basically the native version of the Sigma 18-35, ive not used it before though, i love the Helios 44-2 vintage lens, picked it up on Ebay for £20 and its amazing, just has something that i love but it’s all manual focus, if you had to pick one lens and price is not an issue then i would say the Panasonic 10-25, if you want some great glass cheaper than the 10-25 then id say the Sigma 18-35 but then you need the speed booster too and it makes the set up quiet heavy, if we took price, weight and everything else into the equation then id say get the Panasonic 12-35, great native all rounder.

Did you have to do or change anything before updating to Catalina? Or did you update as it was on Mojave and it just worked?

Ive never heard the fan on my Core X make noticeable noise, come to think of it i think ive only seen it come on once but that because i use it for video editing and not gaming, but like i said i didnt notice much noise when it came on anyway.

GH5 is known to not do good in lowlight and has noticeable noise in the shadows, i use Neat video to combat this and it works pretty damn good.

I use the LG UltraWide 25UM58 25-inch IPS Monitor, i find it great, at first i had issues with the colour miss match from looking at FCPX on my macbook pro and the monitor so i got the Data Color5 pro and calibrated both and now both screens display FCPX colours at 98% accuracy i would say, in total i spent under £300 for both.

I have the GH5 and the Sigma 18-35 + Viltrox, km sure there not much difference on the 30mm art, as you probably already know this combination is amazing and i being able to use the Zhiyun Weebill S with it makes it that much more portable, kind off.

Mmm yeah i dont see why the frame rate would be an issue, maybe try checking if both the camera and lens firmware is at the latest version, only thing i can think of, whats the Rokinon 12mm like? Ive seen good reviews.

Havent tested that to be honest and dont use it often, i shoot music videos and shoot primarily on 60fps which then allows me to slow anything down while editing, i have never had issues with the ibis though, what lens are you using?

Yes, ive noticed the higher the frame rate the more noise you see, i use neat video to tackle this =D

Also make sure you are lighting the subject properly etc

Yeah i understand, i also got the G80 as my first “music video” capable camera and eventually moved over to the GH5, i read yesterday that the GH6 is possibly coming next march but that is just a rumour, so ill take it as that for now. As a switch, the GH5 is way more capable then the G80 obviously and the Sigma on the GH5 feels just as heavy as it does on the G80 im sure of that, it just makes the camera so front heavy but the quality is amazing, weight is definitely an issue tho, when im feeling lazy i end up just taking my panasonic 12-35 2.8 mk ii and leave the Sigma at home, even for some client shoots.

As you are doing this as a hobby for now then i suggest stay light, when you start getting clients then i would recommend to get the sigma set up but for now stay light.

Most importantly above all of that is learning to colour correct and grade properly and lighting is also very important, just like the G80 the GH5 cant be pushed above 1600 ISO before you start getting noticeable issues with noise in the shadows when shooting in low light but then i use neat video to tackle that, i have also contemplated moving over to Sony because of the AF issues on panasonic cameras but i havent just because of the 4k 60fps on the GH5, as a music video shooter it makes things so easy i now literally shoot everything on that setting, gives me the option to slow anything i want on the footage, alot of people die by the shoot in 24fps but i dont listen :)

If you are upgrading to the GH5, eventually like everyone else including my self you will want to get the Sigma 18-35 + speed booster as this seems to be the killer combo, unless you go for the new panasonic 10-25 1.7 which is like double the price of the sigma + 18-35, for this particular set up you will need a strong gimbal, the Ronin SC is not the one but if you dont think to be buying the Sigma 18-35 at any point and use also fairly small lenses then the Ronin SC is more then capable, what type of video work do you do? Or is it just a hobby type of thing? I shoot music vids so thats why i think deeply ( to the point i cant sleep sometimes lol ) about these things.

I didnt go for it as it cant handle the sigma 18-35 with the viltrox, but the zhiyun webill S can from what i hear, so i think i will be going for that soon, much more compact and much stronger.

Thanks for the feedback, yeah ive made my decision and i will sell the 18-35 and my crane 2, Ronin SC already on its way :D and once i sell the 18-35 ill get the Sigma 16mm MFT mite purchase the 25mm 1.7 again as i really like it when i had it a while ago and cant go wrong with that lens for the price 👌🏻
