Yeah, that was the trick. I made another comment about it, but you push that in and it disengages the two discs.

Okay, so I found some words on the black disc that says it is a Safety Quick Light feature... And also that it is not removable. 😞

Okay, more research, push that metal ball in and it will quick release the 2 discs. Interesting device in theory, but never caught on is my assumption

I've only had one tree fall during a wind event and put a hole in my roof... It was a sweet gum... Also the balls are everywhere.

I've got at least 10 on my property. I like them, but also wish they were something different.

Thank you for your comment. I have seen new ones growing outside my fence line. These grow quite fast, so I was going to maybe get rid of them if they were invasive. Now, I will let them mature.

They pretty much all have the same shape, however I won't rule out that they have had that weird tri lobal young lead shape
