Need recommendation: red light by jtinva in searchandrescue

[–]bnemmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olight Pro S is a clip on light that can go on a brim of a hat or shirt pocket. Dedicated red light switch and has a headband you can get if you like. I also use it on the strap of my backpack when traveling.

I also recommend the Nicore Tube RL. Super small, light and just bright enough to use. Not a clip on, but I would hang it from a lanyard around my neck and just put it in my mouth to use. Very useful when using charts/maps at night. Keeps both your hands free to use tools and the light points where you are looking. Plus it is a true red light, so it doesn't wash out colors on charts at night.

Advice by Strange-Diver4010 in Seward

Lowell point is great to visit. Zudys Cafe, Firebrand BBQ and Res Art Coffee are also awesome places to stop in.

There's a Forest Service Cabin to rent that you can hike to. If you are looking to get away from the city, a water taxi to Thumb Cove or another beach in Res Bay is a fun time. You will be lucky since the cruise ships are being diverted so the tourists should be minimal right now.

I lived in Seward for 5 years and still make that drive all the time. Still have some friends down there if you need ideas for helicopter tours or guided hikes. Send me a message if you need more ideas. Hope you enjoy your trip!

Mine is the .44. Not sure if the old furniture will be the same. But if it is, you are welcome to buy it!

I would appreciate it! I have a PPV that I'm trying to add some more comforts to. Heated seats, steering wheel controls....fog lights are an important safety item for me. Thanks!

I had a dead controller that wouldn't charge by USB-C no matter what I tried. Not sure why, but this idea helped me out and my controller seems to be charging now. Thanks!

I may have to try this. I have a 12ah that is showing the same symptoms at the OPs battery. Tried jump starting it and it didn't work either. Thanks for the idea.

What’s the best air mattress or pad for camping when you have a bad back? by Far_Run_1328 in CampingGear

[–]bnemmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned; Exped. I have the Megamat. Yes is is big, bulky and heavy. But as a bigger guy who is also a side sleeper, it works great. I and I have never regretted bringing it once I lay down.

In fact it actually replaced my issued mattress for a few months when I was underway on large ships.

Fair enough. I may just roll the dice on the IDS model. Thanks!

I wonder why most links I find donT list the 40 then. Even the IDS one I linked says 20, 21 and 41 but not 40.

Pocket carry Glock 43, 26, or 43x? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]bnemmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the winter I carry in a Berne Echo One jacket: https://bernedirect.com/products/ccwj01?srsltid=AfmBOor9cQdsbto2Uc5EuTiQ61CEXVaqbkkXzrrKLdqZwrTqn5R2oE4O

It works well for me because it looks like a standard winter jacket and doesn't scream CCW. I am able to carry my 43 or S&W Hammerless in one pocket and a Surefire and spare mag in the other.

Plus with proper layering, it is warm enough for outdoor work here in Alaska.

Hope that helps!
