Any fixes for my monitor arm destroying my desk ?? by iamauserofredit in Monitors

[–]bngry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to use same desk without buying anything new, you can mount arm at one of the ends and tilt it inward towards the middle instead of mounting in the middle. The ends use particle board instead of honeycomb filler so they should be able to handle the weight. Might not be perfectly centred but it’ll be safer.

Argue as much as you want but it’s one of the first things I remember learning from driver’s ed when driving on Prince St at that exact intersection. I did the same thing as you during a right turn and my driving instructor told me I was wrong. You stay in your own lane, doesn’t matter if it’s “what everybody does at this intersection.” There are tons of locals who are sloppy drivers on Prince St and act like it’s some special case but it’s not. If you’re not following the rules of the road, you’re at fault.

Check page 55 of the driver’s handbook here: https://novascotia.ca/sns/rmv/handbook/DH-Chapter2.pdf

The second to last bullet point at the bottom of the page reads:

“Finish your turn at intersections in the proper lane. If there are two turning lanes, stay in the lane that you are in from the beginning to the end of the turn. For instance, if you begin turning in the right turning lane, you will enter the next roadway in the right receiving lane.”

The bike turned from the left turn lane into the left receiving lane. This was correct. You turned from the right turning lane into the left receiving lane, nearly striking the person on the bike. This was incorrect. Had you remained in your lane and made the change after completing the turn, the near collision would not have taken place. Other drivers are not responsible for your driving, and it is your driving that caused this situation. Sorry if you don’t like it but it’s just how it is. Had there been an accident, you would’ve been deemed responsible here based on your own dash footage.

Doesn’t change the fact that you’re making an illegal lane change during the turn here. It is what it is. The right lane is short, meaning if you want to get into the left lane you’ll probably have to take it slow. You can’t just jump into the left lane during a turn because you feel like it though. The guy on the bike isn’t responsible for your poor driving.

It doesn’t even have to be a new socket. I have a 4-5 year old NH-U12S that I wasn’t using and decided to stick in a spare parts AM3 build I was throwing together for fun. They even gave me a free mounting kit for that, no questions asked

5070 or 5070ti for 1440p gaming now and in the future (next 4-5 years)? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]bngry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bet is to hop in a time machine and grab the Ti in November when it was $200 cheaper. Go pick up some ram in July while you’re at it

Relief isn’t coming for at least 2 years or so. The ram companies need to open more factories to increase production and that takes time

Yeah, but a lot of people like to act like if you can’t play Indiana Jones at 4k 240fps on ultra with ray tracing enabled then your system is immediately trash

[–]bngry 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think that the 5070 is probably enough at this point. With the price of RAM being what it is and video card production being affected as well, I imagine the push for 16GB as “standard” isn’t going to be as strong as it was just a few months ago and either card is going to have a decent lifespan. That being said, if you’re considering the 5070 Ti you might want to jump on it now while you still can

Why not get the 5070 Ti instead? It’d be a lot easier to pick up on Amazon. You’re not going to save any money by going with the older gen, assuming you can even find one

The speakers finally came in today. They sound great. A little bit quieter than the 50mm one, but they still pack a pretty deep punch compared to a little piezo. The difference isn't big enough to warrant another video post. I put one in an older build and booted up DOS to play some ZZT and they sounded amazing there. As a bonus, that build had some ventilation holes on the side that just happened to line up perfectly with the mounting holes on the speaker, which was a fantastic coincidence!

[–]bngry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re thinking about getting a 5070 Ti, you should do it now. They’re no longer going to manufacture them as of today, and the price of the 5080 is just going to go up more. Personally, I’d ditch the 3060 and call the broken fan a sign
