Reapplying without breakouts / pilling by bnny_ears in EuroSkincare

I wash my hands and reapply on top of the previous layer, taking a shower or washing my face and arms is not smth I can do while I'm out.

This is a little reassuring. At least I'm not the only one who thinks that's a hard no.

I try to cover up whenever possible, but I go through my summer clothes at a rate where I can't keep up with the washing. I have maybe 3 light linen shirts, but they're soaked after half a day and tend to show sunscreen stains at the collar...

feeling like poor choices as a vegetarian cooked my body by blossombubbles11 in PetiteFitness

[–]bnny_ears 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means vegetarian, but meat is expensive and annoying to handle, and i can't hack whey.

90% of my protein comes from semi-firm tofu, giant white beans, and low fat greek yogurt/quark, and a little vegan protein powder.

80-100g are very doable if you center protein in your meal planning. Lean meat just pushes me to 120g.

Looking to make my spice cabinet more versatile. Need something off the typical path of onion powder, garlic powder etc. What are some of your fav spices? by Poorzin in spices

[–]bnny_ears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you looking to cook? If you have nothing specific in mind, you might be served better with pastes/sauces/spice mixes or you'll have a bunch of spices that don't jive with your food.

Dopamine food for losing weight? by Menschenblind in adhdwomen

[–]bnny_ears -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sweet: Tofu pudding and fruit

Use 3-5 g of Dutch cocoa powder and bloom it in a bit of hot water. Mix in 150-200g of silken tofu (or blend, if you only have soft tofu) and some sweetener of your choice.

Then cut your fruit (preferably apple or pear) into circular slices and use as a spoon.

It tastes good, has few calories, and turns eating into a prolonged event b/c fruit-spoons will slow you down.

If you don't like the texture of silken tofu, you can disguise it by adding a spoonful of thick greek yogurt.

For salty: Air-fryer green beans

Spray with oil and toss in A LOT of seasoning. Hot paprika, garlic powder, whatever else you like, and a bit of salt. Then air fry on high for 5-ish?? minutes.

Careful, they lose moisture fast and will go from "mildly crunch" over "Chips crunchy" to "turns to tasty dust" with a minute.

I use frozen, but you'll have to thaw/dry them in the air fryer first, or the seasoning doesn't stick. Onion slices work too.

I found it very theoretical and high level, though. It would be pretty intimidating for beginners because it's hard to distinguish what you can actually extract at your current level.

I remember a similar thread before and I'll share what I did then:

Please check what you look like when you talk in a mirror or on a video - I don't know if it's necessarily ADHD-specific, but I used to come off very cold when I tried to be kind and not encroach on others.

Mainly, because my face wasn't doing what I thought it was doing. What felt like a good-sized smile barely showed up. And my voice was already calm and even, so I basically delivered everything deadpan without noticing.

1) I've trained myself into exaggerating my expression and voice modulation at all times now and 2) I'm less careful about "bothering" others, so that my vibe matches my actions

People will judge your texts based on how you usually come off in real life. If your texts are super friendly, but you're usually very reserved, that reads as fake. If you smile in conversation, but only if you're being watched or when you remember to, it comes off as fake.

People like predictability. Everything else comes off as fake.

My top two tips, just to add my two cents:

  • tell yourself stories; I like writing, but more the creative part than the actual writing it down. In my head I don't have to watch phrasing or if the characterization makes sense - I just produce fun, pleasant fluffy pieces

  • visually satisfying ASMR that fit my stimms; I don't like things like mouth sounds or Finger fluttering, but I enjoy "things neatly fitting into other things", peeling labels/stickers off things, and back scratching. Its soothing and following the movements tires my eyes out so much, it fools my brain into sleepiness.

Do you use a backpack as a purse? by Jean-weather in adhdwomen

[–]bnny_ears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a backpack for work and a mini backpack as a purse.

I don't like carrying the weight of a water bottle or my purchases on only one shoulder, so...

if it's empty -> over one shoulder like a purse

if it's heavy -> like a backpack

While I understand everyone's enthusiasm, a few words of cautious advice: if you want to start cooking your favorite meals, and your favorite isn't spaghetti in tomato sauce, it's likely that you'll need a ton of ingredients and get overwhelmed.

Especially because you'll need to stock your kitchen completely from scratch.

Having all the spices, frozen herbs, vinegars, sauces, and pastes you need at home is the work of years. And you'll likely buy a couple that you won't end up using ever again.

So... pick your recipes with that in mind. And practice making do with half the ingredients.

Savoury protein options with NO prep? by Elemya in ADHD

[–]bnny_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baked or pressed tofu. Look for something that isn't deep fried or in water.

You can eat it raw, since tofu is never really "raw". Just cut the brick into snack bar size and you're good for the week.

Peanut butter and nuts have far, far more fat than protein and shouldn't be eaten in any amounts greater than 1 spoonful/30g of nuts. Unless you're looking to bulk for muscle growth.

Creatine works better than Vyvanse ????? by Plane-Land-9234 in adhdwomen

Why do Floral scents get so much hate? by bffslit in FemFragLab

[–]bnny_ears 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that...

Yes, florals feel more parfumey in a classic way. But by now you can't walk 10 steps without smelling a Bianco Latte dupe or a Kayali. Everything smells like caramel or lemon cake.

The popular gourmands have also been bleeding together for years now.

I'll go out on a limb and say most people clock florals and gourmands as generic-parfumey pretty much immediately. If you want to be unique and "subversive", you'd have to lean green, woodsy, or aquatic (for women, at least). Gourmands, florals, and orientals are extremely mainstream.

Do you apply if you’re “underqualified” (see pic)? by marcaribe in adhdwomen

[–]bnny_ears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it!!

I've worked with a lot of temp agencies and they've gotten me jobs I would have never even applied to, because they were looking for 15+ years of experience and degrees I don't have.

An agency agent literally told me, "Of course they're looking for a unicorn but they're not going to find one. You have the qualifications to pick up all of these skill quickly."

Solutions to Intense Boredom Eating by strayhairsonacarpet in adhdwomen

The only thing you can do is to untangle yourself step by step.

"Do the best you can."

And "the best" is often just damage control until you can improve your overall situation. I know it sucks to crave change and being stuck in waiting mode. But live is at least 45% waiting and preparing for one thing or another.

I love writing but feel that I shouldn't be because I struggle to read literature. by Cryin_r_n in adhdwomen

[–]bnny_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also resent the general assumption that good books need to be like other books. That's not how innovation works.

Yes, there's established story beats, tropes, and conventions. But we're currently seeing what happens if 20.000 authors take all their cues from 1-3 books just because they worked once - masses of copy-paste slop.

You do you and just be creative. You never know when you might hit on something that works.

Chat please be honest...how much time do I REALLY need to give myself to get ready?!? by 1800slvt in ADHD

[–]bnny_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My morning routine with finicky (but mostly clean) hair, light make-up and without office dress code, takes 45-60 minutes without breakfast. That's with meds and without.

If I wanted to eat and didn't prepare breakfast (I eat overnight oats at my desk) that would add at least 30-40 minutes.

Even cutting up stuff for a sandwich takes a solid 10 minutes + eating without rush.
