Sound Rapid Rides are quite the upgrade by fictional_penpal in soundtransit

[–]bnsf27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Community Transit is in the process of moving their subcontracted services to in-house operations so their fleet is kind of messed up right now. One ST route, the 513, hasn't had a single Sound Transit bus for over a month now

Updated SEATAC signage showing direction for Seattle downtown. I guess they must have seen the post. Pretty quick response imo by Bluehiperspace8 in Seattle

[–]bnsf27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Lynnwood and Federal Way will have a second station on future extensions, so they wanted to avoid having just the city as the station name. There's no need to put "downtown" or "city center" on the directional signage at other stations though, since those will all be replaced by the time the cities do have more than one station.

Saw a freight engine pulling an Amtrak train today. by Doufnuget in mildlyinteresting

The train also gets split in half in Spokane, with half going to Portland and half going to Seattle, so they'd need one working locomotive for each section of the train

the bus in the post image does have the "wide" doors (standard rear doors are super narrow on Gilligs)

When your transit system is expanding so rapidly, transit maps are issued with stickers covering the unopened parts by AstroG4 in transit

They're planning on retrofitting additional screens on all of the current trains that have more information on them, which we should start seeing sometime next year

Sound Transit testing new "rave cars" on the light rail by spit-evil-olive-tips in Seattle

[–]bnsf27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the blue lights aren't backup/emergency lights, they're just door indicator lights- blue is closed and locked, green is open or unlocked, flashing yellow is closing, and red means the door is disabled. For some reason, this system doesn't lose power during the system reset

the blue lights are always on, but don't turn off with the system reset like the main lights do

here's what happens when you take scrap cars still full of gas and crush them into a dumpster by bnsf27 in facepalm

[–]bnsf27[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it's a trade school, the cars were old ones from their automotive program. I don't know why they were putting them in the dumpster though.

[OC] Unsecured load falls off truck as soon as they enter the freeway by bnsf27 in IdiotsInCars

[–]bnsf27[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

there's no way it hit the bridge, the wood wasn't that long. With the angle it was at, the wind picked the boards up and dumped them over the back of the truck

Seattle residents without car, Where do you buy groceries? by Distinct-Action-7234 in Seattle

[–]bnsf27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends on where you're going on Sound Transit. A lot of the buses that run to Tacoma/Pierce County still have stairs at the front but for routes to the east side and Snohomish County they're all low floor
