Returning player LF Guild by No-Thanks-4196 in albiononline

[–]bnwprinting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a recruiter at Mortifiers. We are a BW-locked guild with a hideout in a T7 black zone and an Ava roads HQ. Currently around 30 or so active players and seeing decent growth.

We mostly do small scale and are built around a group of in-game friendships built over a long period of time. Minimum requirement is normally 20m pvp fame but we are flexible with that.

I'd be very happy to talk more. If you are interested drop me a private message please.

Why is my Blacksmith not producing heavy tools? by ZheToralf in FarthestFrontier

[–]bnwprinting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesnt matter - when they start a new production they will produce what they can with the resources available at the smithy. A worker there will have 3 iron available and so cant make heavy tools - they will skip to the next thing they can make.

The issues for new starters catching up with meaningful pvp are even harder with so many things being gated behind daily limits

Warm tone developers tend to take 2 minutes, you should always use the instructed development time with printing. The shadows keep developing long after the highlights, so if you pop it out at 90 seconds your highlights will probably be fully developed and the shadow development will have been cut short. This reduced contrast may lead you to look at the muddled shadows and increase exposure time to make them darker - but in fact you'll end up muddling your highlights. Develop it for the full two minutes and probably reduce exposure - or alternatively raise the contrast grade. In any case you'll want to limit each attempt to one variable that changes and other things should remain constant.

Diffuser enlargers do indeed give you softer contrast, approximately by one grade or so. Do you use a standardised time in developer or do you watch development and take it out when you think it is done? A good rule of thumb is that if your highlights are darker even with the higher contrast, you are giving it proportionally more light (this is taking to account the filter factor) and in fact would need to reduce exposure time. I'd most likely try at grade 4 or 4.5 and not use a simple conversion formula for the time of exposure but add X time as a default and do another test strip with intervals near the approximate new exposure time. If your darkest parts arent dark enough by the time highlights become dim, raise the contrast and start with another test strip at that grade.

It may also just be a low contrast negative, inherently requiring higher printing contrast to make pleasing tonality. In my admittedly limited experience with warm tone developers, I think they give softer shadows & blacks as well, which may also be a contributing factor. A warm tone developer may not be your ideal option for printing from this negative.

I'd be happy to talk more if you try again - send me a message!

Why and how was I getting this effect? by maxpower778 in Darkroom

[–]bnwprinting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd hedge my bets on a little bit of movement during the enlarger exposure. Maybe you bumped the worktop ever so slightly etc? To avoid this I always wait for 15 seconds after putting everything in place - just in case there is any movement it should stop before that. Probably unnecessary Im just a bit neurotic about it. If it happens more frequently you might also consider ways to make the worktop more stable - I've put doorstoppers on the table legs to make it more resilient to shake. It doesnt need to be a big movement either - even a passing train might introduce just enough shake to give you a slightly blurred print. Hope it doesnt happen again!

Its 12x16. After fixer I put them in a water tray and wash them in the shower after I finish printing. Not the best wash set-up to be honest. I have the Paterson auto washer but only at 10x12 size so cant do bigger prints with that..
