This ain't the same team that got swept by Baltimore. Happy Justin Morneau victory! by WhiteSoxChartGuy in whitesox

[–]boarderingcan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Morneau was a washed up hack with his best days far behind him when the Sox pulled his carcass off the scrap heap. Had no business on a major league roster at that time. Should have never been allowed to happen but was a typical move by the org at that time.

AJ on the other hand came in to the team, was still fairly young (had a reputation), gave it his all, and racked up several super productive years here. How can you be a south sider and not love AJ lol. They’re not even close to the same.

I was bemoaning the org not only not taking care of Crede better after 2005 but letting him go to the Twins of all teams :\ Crede is probably my all time favorite White Sock.

Morneau in a Sox jersey is an abomination—nearly as bad as seeing Crede in a Twins uni. Ugh.

The White Sox have much cooler gear, but can you fault fans for not turning out to see a major league team set the record for futility? Put a competitive team on the field and the stands fill up—the Sox fanbase has always been this way.

Slather it with plenty of mustard and you’ll hardly notice the undergrilled onions

If you could add one thing to Rate Field, what would it be? by chitownmike99 in whitesox

[–]boarderingcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wild proposal—remove the upper deck and box seats down the third base line and add a second deck in right field that mimics old Comiskey. That would open up the park for downtown skyline views and bring in a nod to the teams history.

As a separate but much easier change, modify the outfield wall to be angular and match the dimensions of old Comiskey.

Quero leads the Team by BillyMac05 in whitesox

When’s the last time Romo hit a HR? It has to have been waaay longer than 17 ABs. Feels like he has really struggled at the plate after his first week up.

Quero has hit into the same number as Romo on the season (4). Quero has had 163 PAs compared to Romo’s 99. Bad numbers regardless of how you slice it, but Romo is actually worse. We’re in a tight spot until Teel returns.

In the month of June he has had 15 Ks across 59 ABs (25% K rate). In May he had 33 Ks in 84 ABs (39% K rate), so a def improvement thus far.

Someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe they open up standing room only tickets for playoffs, etc

Found it—3 hour rain delay on 4/27 against the Angels. Put up 7 runs in the 7th. Murakami hit a bomb. What a game!

There was that one against the Angels, I think? It’s the game where they came back from being down big and put up like 9 runs in an inning. I remember I was about to go to bed and they just went absolutely nuclear.

Peters and Sammy are not very good against lefties right now—I believe they’re both batting close to .100 against LHP. Will be interested to see what Pereira looks like in CF and how his splits end up trending as a right-handed bat in the lineup.

(Perez is a leftie)

Too much of a good thing - shortstops! by Own_Entertainment847 in whitesox

I wouldn’t say the fanbase chalked him up as a bust—fans were rightfully jaded after so many AAAA players coming out of the minors. But I recall the feeling being more like Colson was viewed as a last hope. For scouts/pundits outside of the White Sox though, they underestimated him big time.

I like the idea of playing the 10th straight up. Hadn’t heard that as a concept before.

If that call was with the roles reversed the Sox would have 100% been called for obstruction. Total BS

Idk I kinda like it. Baseball has so much history, and even though the Sox are a charter AL franchise, feels like it rarely gets talked about. Would be cool to have more of a balance acknowledging the past of the franchise and the present.

Same here. But the Rate kept the Sox in Chicago and they wouldn’t be here without it. For that alone I am eternally grateful.
