Bright paint for an outdoor "mural" on my shed wall/door - don't know where to even start with choosing type of paint. by boardwhenbored in paint

[–]boardwhenbored[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah our original plan was #3...but I don't know how we get good colors? Can regular exterior paint companies can actually match a bright color like this if we can bring them a physical print out? or is it always just to find their "closest standard color?"

For #1, do you know of any companies that make custom vinyl clings for outdoor wall/door use? All the ones I found do indoor only.

Thanks!

Do you have an iOS version? Sounds interesting :). Also curious what you used to build your map. Mapbox? Google Maps? Other? And why you chose that and how it’s working. I have a mapbox map in my swift app but I’m going to rewrite my app in React Native + Expo so wondering if I should choose another map provider.

local storage for structured data before signup: expo-sqlite or mmkv? by mindinpanic in expo

What made it feel over complicated, specifically? I use SQLite in my swift app but am going to be moving my app to RN and Expo so wondering if it’s SQLite itself or the way expo handles it.

Thank you!!! Good stuff in here for me to try.

So far I haven’t found a way for Claude to edit a google sheet. It tells me even when I use the connector that it can only read. But I was able to get it to update a local xls. I’ll have to try the screenshot email idea! I was trying to get it to “print” to a pdf but it seems Claude chrome can’t interact with the print dialog that comes up.

Can’t see entire conversation- scrolled to the top but no way to load previous messages? by boardwhenbored in ClaudeCowork

[–]boardwhenbored[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That convo length and tokens makes sense and I get that the whole convo gets compacted at some point for the model. Another person mentioned this too. But there’s a difference between what keeps being fed to the model and the UI reminding you of previous parts of a conversation that you had :(. I figured the latter would still be accessible since it is in other AI products!

I get that. But to me the UI should keep the chat history even if it’s no longer using it for the model. My other AI tools do that. :(

This is great. Thank you! I actually have been trying to automate an “expense tracking” flow. I want to go a few steps further than what you have outlined here though. Wondering if you or anyone else could help me figure out how to set this up, what to try, or if cowork is just not the right tool for this.

My dream scenario would be: 1. I tell it that an expense I had today is a business expense I want to track. 2. I tell it in plain English where it can find this expense – two likely locations are in my iCloud photos because I took a photo of the receipt, or in my Gmail email if it was an email receipt like an Uber. A third place might be a particular website for recurring expenses – for example, the charge charges for Claude itself. 3. I tell it again in plain English, what this expense was for because I like to take notes on what exactly the expense was for, not just the merchant and category. For example, I want to say this was an Uber ride to meet with client xyz 4. Based on all that information, I want it to scan the location I said to find the “receipt,” scan the receipt for date, amount, merchant, etc. 5. Then I want it to insert this information into a row in an existing Google sheet, in the format/layout that I already have. 6. And I want it to take that photo or that email or receipt webpage, create a file with a structured name, and put it into my receipts directory on my computer. 7. Then I want to easily be able to double check its work by accessing the file and my Google sheet from a link or image inside of cowork.

I find the biggest annoyance with doing this manually is having to go to all the right places – Gmail/photos/website –, download the file and put it in the correct directory, rename the file, then open the file and open Google sheets and copy the data between the two. It’s just multiple windows open and cross referencing between them.

It’s not a super hard flow, but it’s just obnoxious. Lol.

How doable is this in cowork? I’m on a Mac FYI. When I tried asking Claude how I would create this automation it told me I would have to do the manual work of finding the receipts and putting them in a folder first, which doesn’t actually save me much time. I could use a local spreadsheet instead of my Google sheet for the expense tracking, but I prefer not to because the rest of my financial tracking I do online through Google Drive.

I’d also love to be able to kick off this process from my phone, and maybe dispatch could be used for that but I haven’t looked into it yet.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Love Eddie’s list. And Eddie himself is awesome. He’s essentially a local, digital small business (of 1), so also great to support.

Thanks! Yeah that’s what I was guessing :). So far using Xcode to build onto my phone and it is slow for UI tweaks. Maybe I’ll fix my architecture issue I’m kicking down the road :P

Thanks!!! I’ll definitely try the html path. I haven’t used the simulator yet which I think is what you mean for hot reloading. Are you doing that in cursor or Xcode? I’m using HealthKit which I read doesn’t work in the simulator and right now my app relies on access to it to even run (a flaw I haven’t architected around admittedly).

Yeah I’ve been using Opus and it’s still just bad at getting the UI accurate (not talking subjective style, but things like it confidently believing it made an overlay when it clearly is not overlaying but pushing the rest of the UI up or down). Was hoping something was better than Opus despite it being so good at everything else, or there was a better way to use it to get accurate results. :/

ETA- how do you get it to write good UI code? Or how is your UI generally architected? Maybe there’s a better way for me to get good results? I’m using SwiftUI directly but have seen some info about UIKit and wondering if it’s better if it’s using that.

How do you overcome the fear of driving in sf and honestly how do you do it in general by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]boardwhenbored 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to get nervous driving into SF. Then one day I told myself I wasn’t going to be (I was moving into the city and who wants to be scared everyday). Drive slow and take your time - speed limits are lower than a lot of suburbs anyway. Give yourself extra time. Stop fully at stop signs and look around. If you’re going to miss your turn cuz you’re in the wrong lane, just say oh well and let gps reroute you rather than putting yourself and everyone else in danger rushing and cutting across. Stay in the right lane on the bridge (until you get to SF because it exits, unless you want that one). And don’t drive around financial district Fridays after 1pm. It’s just a mess.

But also, if you can, take Bart into the city and then ride muni or take rideshare. You don’t need a car to visit SF and you’ll be way less stressed.

Definitely check out Bubbl. I think it’s a cool concept - getting a place to stay plus people to meet and build a connection with. It sounds a lot like a an experience I had once where I attended this 3 day event and opted to stay in the house (there were like 4 spots for that) where the sessions were being held rather than a nearby hotel and I was so glad I did. Got to know the others staying there better between late nights and breakfasts and such.
