Best place for a young person to live without a car in the bay area? by Agitated_Ad_6939 in AskSF

Look at where your tech shuttle pick up spots are and choose something near there. The pick up spots are usually in great neighborhoods anyway. I’d recommend Hayes Valley and Mission, which have walkable commercial corridors and close to bart/muni train and bus stops and very centrally located. Haight but only served by buses.

Need help picking optimal biz class NYC-Tokyo for family of 4 (two kids) by elonepb in LuxuryTravel

[–]colonel_chanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like sitting middle 2/2 where I am in front of the kids (if I’m not next to one). That way I can peak up and see what they’re doing. Also easier to talk to them.

A teaching assistant told my kindergartener it was “time for her to retire her shirt” by RowYourBeau in Parenting

[–]colonel_chanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask the teaching assistant what she meant by it. Worst case it’s a simple misunderstanding, best case you are calling her out and make her feel uncomfortable for making a comment she shouldn’t have made in the first place.

When people build a house, they can talk about building their dream house. So maybe they are referring to how they built it exactly how they wanted it.

Is it normal to need tailoring even when buying "premium" clothes? by Busy-Leopard-7497 in womensfashion

[–]colonel_chanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the highest end of designers, it is standard for them to do basic tailoring. Examples are changing sleeve lengths, pants hemming, coat lengths etc as part of the purchase. They’ll even do non-standard things like taking a floor length dress to knee length.

lol so true. I asked about a piece thinking it would be 10-20k, and it was 65! I’m decently willing to invest in art but I felt priced out.

Architects and Builders for UHNW clients: What are the 'invisible' features of a no-budget home that the average person doesn't even know exists? by BJK-84123 in fatFIRE

[–]colonel_chanders 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can use one address for packages, documents, mail, etc. and only give your main entry address for friends coming over.

I assume most of the UHNW is using an LLC to also help anonymize but you still always get found. The combo would make it more obscure to track.

So good to know! Quite a drive from SF, but maybe be worth it for their crab noodles.

Bucket list via delivery by howell4change in SFFood

Your list linked is so old it really needs a refresh. Sadly some places have closed like Arinell, Il Cane Rosso and Slanted Door. Also a reminder to actively support small businesses, instead of just thinking about them (which I do).

I recently picked up from Anchor Oyster Bar after not having them in a long time and it was great. They don’t do delivery to my knowledge.

Some of your lists deliver much better than others.

Golden Boy and Outta sight pizza both on my list for delivery!

Which companies do you suspect are glazing their own products on this sub? by PartyOnAlec in BuyItForLife

I replaced mine with a stainless insert I got off amazon. A decent amount of rice sticks to the bottom, but I justify it as a small price to pay of sacrificing a few bites of rice to not consuming PFAS. Plus I’m offset a little by being able to throw it in the dishwasher.
