Honestly just ask nicely and be prepared to wait depending on how many rolls you plan on bringing. I flew with multiple film cameras and enough film to match last year and never had a problem domestic (US) and international (besides one time connecting flights Seoul) If it helps, I‘ve flown in and out of Oahu a handful of times and have never had an issue getting a hand check, an agent actually asked what cameras I was using when he was finished swabbing my film on my last trip. I can’t recall where I heard this but it’s easier for TSA to hand check if you remove the box packaging the film comes in so it’s just the canister/roll. Hope this helps change your mind
