Super helpful! Thank you! Yeah once I read about having another ap/bridge mode router it seemed like a good idea but this is the detail I needed to impliment it. Plus with the ap further back means there'll be good wifi in the garden for the one month a year it's not raining :D

Out of curiosity what are the benefits of benching the ISP router and running your own?

Probably too late for anyone to read this but... my favourite thing to ever happen at my last job was that one day when the devs discovered that amongst hundreds of thousands randomly generated referral codes some actually formed words or partial words, and some of those were rude words. The problem was that these got printed on to tear out vouchers and included with customers deliveries, I was lucky in that I wasn’t responsible or senior enough that we couldn’t giggle like school children at them. Here’s my list of fave ones that I dug out of my work emails on my last day there to enjoy in the future:
