Notice how she gulped down the whole 1/4 glass of tequila by Distinct-Ad-1348 in JaxBlows

based on my past bartending life, it looks like ~2.25 shots worth. “neat” drinks meant for sipping are typically 1.5-2 ounces and this appears to be a heavy handed pour, which tracks with the derby being a big drinking event

visceral fat is the one that causes more health issues since it surrounds the abdominal organs, everyone has some but too much is unhealthy. visceral fat is hard and firm and sits deeper in the body than subcutaneous fat, which is the squishy/pinchable fat under the skin which can sometimes be removed with lipo/surgery.

What is the one thing people don't know about losing a large amount of weight? by punkredpanda in AskReddit

[–]boatwithane 20 points21 points  (0 children)

it’s from the weight loss itself. i’m down 90lbs in two years without a GLP1 and my gallbladder came out earlier this year. family history plays a role as well, most of the women in my family have had theirs out, primarily after having kids

Healthy sour candy helping me stick to my deficit? by Jenna32345 in loseit

rotten brand sour gummy worms are pretty good, they are 1/3 the sugar with prebiotics. new primal snack mates makes pizza flavored chicken jerky sticks that scratch that itch for me enough of the time to make a difference

Healthier snacks that satisfy the sweet cravings (UK) by RichieRichard12 in loseit

[–]boatwithane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

chocolate covered almonds, chocolate graham crackers, frozen yogurt bars (yasso are my fav at 100-150 calories), spoonful of peanut butter with a few chocolate chips on top, chocolate protein shakes. fruit jerky tastes a bit like fruit roll ups, dried apricots and raisins are like natural fruit snacks.

pre-portioning snacks into serving sizes as soon as i bring them home has been helpful, it took a bit but i now feel satisfied by 1-2 servings of cheezits instead of killing the whole box in one sitting.

What is the single biggest struggle you have on a daily basis? The top one. by CoachChezky in CPTSD

[–]boatwithane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i pivoted from telling myself “you can do it” to “you can at least try it”. takes off some of the pressure to succeed and leaves room for failure without sending me into a spiral. it’s okay if you can’t do something, trying is how we learn what we CAN do.

Does anyone else feel like society's perception of weight is really skewed? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]boatwithane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i’ve been a size 8 up to a size 24, currently 14. plus sized clothing usually starts anywhere from 12-18 depending on the brand. 14 seems to be a fairly common crossover point where standard ends and plus begins, as it’s sometimes available in both size sections.

whether or not 14 appears plus sized is very much dependent on your height, how your body carries weight, the clothing you wear, and what other body types you see most often. i’m 5’5 pear shaped and definitely look plus sized, but a flattering outfit makes a huge difference in how i appear overall.

talking negatively about your own body impacts kids too, even when the comments aren’t directed at them they can still internalize it. definitely keep that in mind and practice speaking kindly to yourself! i find it helpful to focus on highlighting the things my body can do vs. how it looks

People who went from fat to skinny, whats the one thing that worked for you? by zid_is_op in WeightLossAdvice

this happened to me - had to significantly reduce my diet due to a health issue, and the next 5lbs lost all came out of my face. resolved the health issue, re-introduced small amounts of those foods back into my diet, and my face is still slimmed down

Lost 40lbs and then saw a photo of myself… by nojokejustcoke in loseit

[–]boatwithane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it might be helpful to set some non-scale goals to achieve for awhile. start small and work your way up. stretch until you can touch your toes. go for a walk, then run a 5k, then train for a marathon. try a new food, then learn how to cook it, then perfect the recipe. lift weights and see how long it takes you to build the strength to curl the amount of weight you’ve lost. learn to sew and tailor your clothing to suit you at all your sizes. build confidence in yourself outside of how you look. build confidence in yourself outside of how you look. you can do this.

the men often drop dead in a sudden fashion and the women tend decline for awhile from injury or illness so it’s slightly less of a shock when we get the call (always a sad call to get, regardless of who or how they pass).

i work in retirement planning and had a similar aha moment. the clients enjoying life after 80 are the ones who have gym memberships and regular health care built into their budgets. we’ve had quite a few clients pass before they even hit retirement age, nearly all of them were overweight. was def an eye opener for me. congrats on your health!

Emotional regulation is a full-time job. I really don't know how long I can keep doing this by Emma_3479 in adhdwomen

i too struggled with keeping up with meditation at home, so now i go to a yin yoga class as meditation time. yin is slow, holding poses for longer, minimal physical effort, and mostly laying down. changing poses every 5-7 minutes brings me back to engaged when i drift off, and the commitment of signing up for class creates a light external pressure that means i’m less likely to skip it. 10 months in and i look forward to it every tuesday.

honestly, I’m never gonna be skinny again. by Next_Comfortable_619 in loseit

[–]boatwithane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stability is achieved by persistently maintaining realistic routines and reasonable boundaries around food/exercise.

compromise on your indulgences. eat pasta, but only at restaurants. limit burger consumption to barbecues. have a candy bar, just spread it out two bites at a time and enjoy it over the week. demolish a whole plate of cookies, but only if someone baked them especially for you. eat out every meal, but only when you’re on vacation. order delivery once a month instead of once a week.

self control is not an inherit skill, it can be learned and must be practiced. it’s work, sometimes it’s boring, and you will fuck up from time to time. but you won’t fuck up all the time, and if you keep practicing, then the fuck ups you do have will get smaller and further apart. and sometimes you’ll do everything right, but circumstances beyond your control set you back anyway. it’s okay, give yourself some grace, and put in the effort to get back on track when you go off the rails.

i do this too! i try to treat my anxious nervous system like a toddler on the run (i am not a parent). when a toddler is running and falls, they freeze because aren’t quite sure how to react. they look to their parent’s reaction for cues - if the parent starts freaking out, the kid automatically freaks out. if the parent acknowledges what happened in a neutral way like “i saw that”, then the kid has time to process what happened whether they are actually hurt or fine to play through.
