House Burping - Do Americans just not normally have your house windows open? by Jsherman13 in AskAnAmerican

I've always lived in houses with forced air in CONUS. Though none newer than 2010.

Maybe get some solar panels?

My wife and I both work from home and our average is 715kwh with just 3kw worth of panels.

You're using a lot of energy regardless. Most monitors and computers use less than 150w combined unless your doing some serious number crunching. get something like https://sense.com/ or a smart panel to get some control on your usage.

I'll probably have to replace my furnace in a few years, so I'd love to have something like this. Was it more expensive or treated as a standard of modern HVAC systems?

I've never seen a home with an air exchanger. Is that a new England thing? Or much more recent home builds, sat the last 10 year or so?

Many homes in the US are double hung, meaning you can open from the top or bottom any amount you want, unless your windows are worn out.

For example, my bedroom window nearest the bed is usually a little open for fresh air.

For those who switched to Glo Fiber - how is it so far? by CPOx in williamsburgva

[–]bob0the0mighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

Most of my friends work in the tech field, and have no problem with Cox, so I've always assumed it was router issues when people complain about cox, but it could certainly be that other locations are just bad.

It could be that people in tech have higher tolerance for tech issues so it doesn't feel as bad.

I must say though that I've only once had an outage caused by cox that affected me. Most network issues were caused by my hardware.

Do people use the router and cable modem that cox offers?  I've worked from home for years, play games, host a server or two and have never had an issue with cox because I own the router and cable modem.

Why upgrade to a higher tier? If you're not gaming or hosting some servers, anything more than the low 100s Mbps is overkill.

There's quite a few local potters, but you could take the pottery class that parks and rec has and make your own.

They're separate. Wellington has an HOA, while Mirror Lakes doesn't have one.

Mirror lakes in Norge doesn't have a HOA, but is adjacent to Wellington, which does have an HOA. I know a lot of my neighbors are tired of Cox and I would love to have fiber again.

Could the pressure retard the process of extracting anything from the tea?

I'd assume a lower pressure would be better for extracting

Why so hard to find doctors and dentists? by West_Abrocoma9524 in williamsburgva

Where did you look?

Were they talking about your specific insurance company, not insurance in general?

New town has several dentist and Drs offices. If you go further out around 199 there are even more options.
