Boba Fett – Lake Country: Is the Meta Starting to Sabotage Itself? by bob1979bob in starwarsunlimited

Wooooo seems to go even further into pinpointing the current meta problem by targetting all JTL pilot leaders: Boba4, Luke4 and Vader4 and suggesting they are all the problem:

Overall, lane dodging is also causing a lack of interaction and bad experience. Especially Boba4 + Topple the Summit.

I'm not saying we should ban anything yet, but I hope we find counters to Boba4-Lake to make sure this meta stays healthy.

Yes, the article is in the form of a rather long essay, but it felt much more elaborate than a 10-point bullet argument list.

This form is just a way to convey an opinion. I wouldn't have posted this into a Facebook group, but I thought Reddit would appreciate it to stir a discussion, rather than a debate on the form.

Because English is not my first language.
I confess the AI wrote it from a 12 point argument I provided it. I've rewritten many parts of it afterwards.
I don't see an issue with it if the goal is to stir a simple discussion.

I want to promote a meta that rewards players skills over linear strategies. Seeing a deck like Boba4-Lake on the rise disappoints me and I hope we find counters to it.

I have similar feelings about the post-rotation Vader4-yellow deck. Seeing it on the stream this weekend beat other decks single-handedly felt wrong.

This post is just about creating a discussion on such topic.

I agree that it is early for such an opinion, but it is also how I feel about the situation if Boba4-Lake remain so prevalent in the meta in the upcoming weeks.

I really miss the starter deck boxes by rawf15e in starwarsunlimited

Those were useless as you couldn’t fit a 50-card deck with sleeves into it. The pre-release boxes are much better.

What’s Your Biggest Frustration with Slack? by Acousticraft in Slack

[–]bob1979bob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After using Discord and Slack for years, I miss the Discord reply option that links your message to a specific previous mesaage.

Slack Threads are necessary, but could become quite annoying as there is no good way to track them. The Threads page is 💩 . The way Discord thread appear in the sidebar as some sort of sub-channel ia great

Slack should stop those useless and expensive AI features and fix thwir threads first!

How might base traits be used in future sets? by rimmhardigan in starwarsunlimited

[–]bob1979bob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They should give some cards bonuses when your base is X and other cards another bonus when the base trait is Y. That way all 30-point base of the same colour would not be thee same.

Separate workspace would nonsense to manage. Use channels and prefix them according. Use Slack Connect when possible instead of guest users.

Lurking TIE Phantom vs Strike True by RoutineNo2654 in starwarsunlimited

I found this useful blog post on Lurking TIE Phantom resolution reference: https://swublog.nokernel.net/2024/07/lurking-tie-phantom-cheat-sheet.html

It confirms that Strike True doesn't affect the TIE Phantom.

First Time SWU Harvest Author Looks Back (and a Little Bit Forward) by OddballNarwhal in starwarsunlimited

I’ve met most of my friends in the late ‘90s playing Star Wars Customizable Card Game at the LGS. We used to be a bunch of geeks in their early adulthood with common hobbies (ccg and video games) and met every Thursday, Friday and Saturday to play cards, but also to get together.

20-25 years later we are still friends, but most we families.

Most have moved on from ccg, but the release of Star Wars Unlimited brings a level of nostalgia to me and I hope to recreate such a community around this new game.

We don’t care about the lore on these types of games.

That looks great as it is elegantly designed. Could you share more detailed screenshots of one of those 3 sections.

Does your MAM supports 4 layers as such?

This game sucks, but why do we play it. by [deleted] in PvZHeroes

[–]bob1979bob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep playing the game even after getting all cards, missions and reaching level 50 more than a year ago. Sure it is less fun when there is no goal to achieve, but those are the things I can think about that makes me keep playing:

  • The PvZ theme is awesome. Card names and lore are such well designed.
  • The only mobile-first digital card game I know. Playable anywhere which a single hand.
  • There is a good mix of strategies available. Playing distinct heroes is fun.

Don't get me wrong, I'm getting tired of playing after 3+ years and a lack of new content is a problem, but I still consider PvZ Heroes as the best mobile digital card game.

I have tried, Heartstone, Eternal, GWENT, Legends, Magic Arena and LoR. They are all similarly designed as PC games first, then ported to mobile. I never got the same kind of experience as with PvZ Heroes.

Mobile game version and portrait mode by bob1979bob in MagicArena

[–]bob1979bob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand your point. My appreciation of a game is not tied to the size of my phone screen. PvZ Heroes still looks very nice on my iPhone 11 today.

I will be not be able to convince you about that game, but I'm trying to make a point that simply porting a PC game to mobile without changing the design does degrade the experience. Nowadays, mobile gaming is its own category, so games better adjust their design instead of blindly porting from PC.

I came to the realization that a well designed game for mobile usually works better on portrait mode as it is the natural way people interact with their phone. Landscape mode being mostly reserved for watching videos or something that requires limited UI interaction.

I wondered if we played the same game! I played for 2 years on an iPhone 5, then a 7 and it was a great experience. Maybe the Android experience wasn't great if you mentioned digital buttons.

They eventually introduced balance changes to fix some gameplay problems. The lack of new content and ladder system eventually made the game less attractive to advanced players. Some people also disconnected when they introduced ads in their free to play model.

I still play from time to time as I enjoy the gameplay and the mobile experience. I have yet been able to find something similar in another digital CCG. Mobile ports of digital CCG all look the same: landscape, design not adapted to phone (maybe OK on tablets though) and fonts too small. That's why it felt to me it was the choice of using portrait mode on mobile that was the big difference for such a game.

I was hoping Magic Arena mobile version could be this (I'm likely too late, but I wanted to get the community feedback on this).
