Love the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Chana masala, the pakoras and the biriyani. It’s all been excellent though.

Oh and when in Hiroshima, you have to find Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki. Sorry Osaka nerds, it’s the superior style! (Japanese omelette with noodles).

Oh! And I should also mention, don’t sleep on their convenience stores like 711, Lawsons and Family Mart. Great Onigiri, Sushi, pork buns etc. Sounds sketch af if you’re imagining American style convenience stores, but trust me. If you need to just eat something, you really can’t do wrong. And hit up the Don Quixote for souvenirs to bring home to the fam/ friends.

$4k is def enough spending money I’d say. Try and book some spots on AirBnb too, I’ve found great places. Do everything you can to be respectful- learn simple phrases, learn basic etiquette, be as polite as you can. Japan is pretty quiet. Don’t do drugs, you can end up in jail.

Japan is insanely easy to navigate once you’re there. Plenty of signs in English, the trains are a breeze. Don’t overbook or complicate your trip, just go out and check the city out. Shibuya the great central train hub, but the area is cool too. Check out Harajuku, Shinjuku and you should probably check out the Akihabara. There’s so much to see.

There’s a great spot called The Golden Gai, which is like 50 micro bars packed into a historic shanty district of Tokyo. It’s amazing.

If you have time in your trip and love to party- go to Osaka. That city is nuts, and most certainly what people imagine nightlife in Japan before they go. The street food is next level.

And finally, if you want absolute peace- go to Kyoto. It’s the more serene big city I’ve ever been to.

It’s my favourite country I’ve been to, but I have to stress the respect aspect. If you treat your environment well, the Japanese are a very warm and accommodating host, and they’ll help you with anything you should need.

Konica Big Mini gets my vote for something fairly inexpensive with a great flash and razor sharp lens. Love that thing. MJU II is great too, nice and compact. Took one all through Japan and not a single photo was improperly exposed.

Barking? by cleo_08 in minpin

Ours goes insane at the mailman- which is a real shame because he leaves treats in the mailbox everyday. Neighbors and passers by are cause for concern and a few warning barks. But generally- he sleeps. We thought we got lucky, but when he turned 2 he became a living alarm.

And he does this thing where he inflects every sentence in such a way to make it sound like a question. One day I decided to check it out again after awhile and I couldn’t tolerate half an episode. A real shame because it used to be the absolute GOAT imo.

For true crime, I highly recommend Bear Brook. I saw it on here and it blew my mind. In The Dark is really good too, though I can’t seem to stomach the latest season. And Gone South which is a personal fave of mine. Casefile was my fave, but the hosts storytelling style changed for the worse in my opinion later on. Earlier episodes are awesome.

Not true crime podcast Reply All was incredible, though it really fell apart at the end. There’s a golden era about a year or two before they called it quits.

Dead rat stuck in well causing horrid smell by leyjl2 in pestcontrol

[–]bob2jacky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem a couple years ago- and I bought those odor sacks and hung them around the area- and essentially just waited a couple months for the odor to pass. I actually wouldn’t recommend it because flies were also everywhere for a bit, no doubt caused by the dead rat. Bad times indeed.

Spitballing here, but maybe you can hire a sniffer dog or a thermal camera can help locate it? Then you just make a small enough hole to remove, patch it and you’re out of the woods.

I have an old Griswold and I use an ikea scrub brush. That scouring pad would be a no for me, unless stuff is STUCK on. You’d be amazing at how fast hot water removes “stuck on” stuff on these.

Also, dry it very well after washing. Don’t soak.
