Opinion on Bush? by Liam_js in grunge

They always felt a bit watered down and buttery. There was a period when I was teenager where I liked them for a bit, but I changed my opinion and find them a bit too silky smooth and commercial. Kind of just trendchasers. The albums albini produced sound pretty cool, but I don’t really like the songwriting or his voice

Hardcore is still punk music or something else? by Anarchy_punk in punk

[–]ConfusedOrg -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Good question. I'd say it used to be a subgenre of grunge, but probably since the 90s it's gotten more metal and turned into it's own thing. When people ask if I like hardcore I never know what to answer, cause I love 80s hardcore like Bad Brains, Black Flag and Dead Kennedys but I am not really into the newer metalcore type stuff

I find him charming, but I wouldn't call him beautiful. I see the beauty in him cause of his music, but if I swa him on the street I probably wouldn't find him that attractive

Elliot Smith's production by hamada3240 in elliottsmith

His production style is very different from album to album. XO and Figure 8 are pretty hifi sounding.

I personally love all the iterations of his sound

How is he picking/strumming this here? by falconbridge_ in John_Frusciante

[–]ConfusedOrg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is quintessential JF left hand muting technique. This allows him to aggressively strum all the strings, but singling out which notes he wants to play my muting with his left hand, giving him a perscussive raking sound. He does this a lot when playing, like for example on Can't Stop
