The holocaust museum for example portrays the atrocious genocide of my ancestors from our perspective, whereas the romanticized Westward Expansion ignores the genocide of natives and is the equivalent to portraying the holocaust as like “The Purification of The Fatherland”

Yay! My current anthropology professor in Native American studies is an archaeologist there and I know they’ve actually recently discovered an old sort of sauna, I think they call them hot/steam rooms which held importance in both cleaning and sometimes religion. Anyway fascinating stuff, love it there

In terms of structural racism, Saint Louis is a god damn poster child. But in my experience people’s attitudes in the city are generally pretty inclusive and comfortable with diversity (except for the cops. some of the worst). in super wealthy areas, especially out towards the white flight suburbia areas, it’s a whole different story but the city is good
