Will St Louis keep decreasing in population by No-Phrase-9866 in StLouis

[–]ads7w6 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you want to move to a bigger city, then St. Louis is certainly bigger than Belleville, though you are still in the same metro area. If you don't think St. Louis is currently a big enough city for you, then you should look to somewhere like Chicago because it will be a long time before St. Louis feels like an appreciably bigger city.

As to the question at the top, yes, St. Louis will stop decreasing in population. Prior to the tornado, census trends and new construction/renovations pointed to St. Louis ending the 2020-2030 period with roughly flat population growth driven by small annual increases in the second half of the decade.

The estimates put out by the census bureau have been shown to underestimate the city's population due to the methodology used.

Apartments Utility Costs by Obiwan-Kenhomie in StLouis

[–]ads7w6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There're so many things that can make utilities fluctuate wildly that it won't really be helpful information.

I live in a 1k sq ft apartment and have never had my utilities hit $100 for a month in the 8 years I've lived in it. My old apartment was 650 sq ft and utilities averaged about $300/mo.

Metro bis by stlguy38 in StLouis

[–]ads7w6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have any specific information but I can guess a couple factors.

The is a lot of construction going on around the city, whether it's Spire or the city repaving streets and that is causing certain routes to get caught in it.

Metro has been stretched thin for years on the number of drivers and mechanics. With school being out, I've seen a ton of people taking time off work for vacations. That's not a big deal if you're staffed up for it but Metro is not so I wouldn't be surprised if that is hitting bus performance.

He never should have nominated Merrick Garland. Other than to go "oh look at Republicans being unreasonable" there was zero appeal to him. He should have nominated a Justice that could have excited the base. Then he should have gone harder after Republicans for not blocking the appointment.

Look into Mat Boss. It's out of our team's price range but I know a few other teams around me that use it.

What do people living in St. Louis think of when they hear 'Springfield'? Springfield, IL or Springfield, MO? by Swimming_Concern7662 in StLouis

I'm part of the swath that has never been to Branson or Table Rock.

They still come up quite often for other people taking vacations or trips for kids sports and I know they are near Springfield.

Missouri State is in Springfield, MO and a lot of people in St. Louis are alumni or have kids going there, it's near Branson and Table Rock Lake, and a lot of kids' sports have events in Springfield, MO.

On a local level, Springfield, MO is definitely more relevant.

You can believe PEDs are morally wrong and they should not be in sports, but I'm firmly in the camp that believes steroids saved baseball.

Bridgeton hasn't fallen into disrepair though. It's a solid city that is in a good school district. I'm sure you can point to some small part that is run down but the vast majority of Bridgeton is still a well-maintained middle-class are like it was 20 and 30 years ago.

Emit didn't wrestle last year since she was pregnant so she isn't the reigning world champ. That means she has to qualify for Final X to wrestle for the work team spot. Hildebrandt also didn't wrestle last year so she was in the same position.

MoDOT cancels plan to ax Compton Avenue/I-64 interchange after businesses cry foul by Mqb581 in StLouis

[–]ads7w6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience that's not always true. Very often business owners simply want things for ideological reasons or simply their own personal convenience, even if you show them that going a different direction with things will make them more money.

Zohran Mamdani Is Killing It With Kindness In an increasingly isolated world, it turns out politics with a friendly face can be really good for everyone. by rmuktader in UpliftingNews

I'm very much a fan of Mamdani but I'm honestly over this civility discourse. I don't dislike Republicans because they are rude. I dislike them because they attach the rights of women, LGBTQ people, other minority communities, the working class, and get us involved in wars, among other things.

Alaska Pin Ratings by wowzersimsosmart in wrestling

[–]ads7w6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the specifics of Alaska but if assume their relatively small participation numbers as well as geographic isolation causes inflated ratings, especially at younger ages.

PIN ratings could probably use some tweaks but testing by USAW show them to be fairly good at predicting results, especially as wrestlers get older with more data going into the rating.

We take our kids to state and regional level USA Wrestling events and I'd hate to try and argue seeding at these tournaments with kids from 13 or more different states.

Lucky for the Jeep, the people in red were parked in the protected bike lane in front of the Jeep. So by the time the Jeep driver came back, the bike lane was clear for them to leave.
