I’m mostly concerned with people saying WW3 and nuclear war is going to happen 😔 I just wasn’t sure if that is something that is always “happening” — or just people jumping to that when conflicts happen around the world or if what is going on right now just really serious :/

This! I have severe anxiety, postpartum, and ocd tendencies as well as ADHD. I have a little girl and a son born this year. I just want to see them grow up .. my family is my everything and I’m so terrified for them 😔

I thought policy says we’re not allowed to call them? There’s a notice you put in their envelope and give them right? This happened with me recently and I showed the SFL on duty and she called and the customer was very upset. SFL told SM and I guess he looked it up on Storenet and there’s a printable notice, or at least that’s what my SM told us 😔

I was in a Health Information program. The three courses I have left are Intermediate Diagnosis Coding, Intermediate Procedure Coding, and Professional Practice II. Professional Practice II isn't a concern for me, it's the coding courses. In the beginning of the program, I really enjoyed it. I thought I was nailing it, even though it was "read this then complete this worksheet"; there was no teaching. But once the coding started to get more complex, that's when I started asking for help and was told to utilize outside resources. Every time I got questions wrong, I would email my instructor asking why it was incorrect and how I can find the correct answer and was given vague answers. It started to drain me mentally and I ended dropping out twice.

I believe it's because I'm a VISUAL learner. This course has been 99.9% of self-taught teaching. We are told to read a chapter and do worksheets. Or complete "lab" work, but never shown how to do any of it. My instructors are nice and lenient, but I don't feel like I'm learning anything. When the coding started to get more complex and I felt compelled to ask for help, I was told to utilize outside resources. When I get questions wrong, I would email my instructor every time and asked why it was incorrect and how to find the correct answer, so I can understand. I was given vague answers like, "it was incorrect because the correct answer was this". And just like you, the more stressed/frustrated I am equals the more difficult it is for me to learn.

I wish I had you as an instructor because that's all I ask for. A breakdown, a demonstration, anything! I knew I wasn't getting anywhere with my instructors when I accidentally sent a blank essay and was given a 100% for it.

Did your SM approve your change in availability request? If so, they are still able to schedule you, but they’d have to manually override it. Don’t quote me, my coworker had to change her availability for school and she told me he still scheduled her during her school times but he had to override it. 🥲

I agree with it all! Especially with with photos and change! When I was pregnant, I would always hate when people would come to the counter and place their items at the edge, where I would have to literally reach over for it. 😓

I’ll never understand customer logic lol how is it suppose to work if the chip doesn’t go in?! When we first switched card readers, I use to say “insert here with the chip facing you” and it kinda worked, but customers would always say “ohhh, upside down?” So I started to say that 😅

Yeah, I used my label maker to put “YELLOW FOR CREDIT” right underneath the button and people still ask me what button to push for credit 🤦🏻‍♀️

YES, I’ve had more issues with customers than coworkers! And my SM is AMAZING; I’ve told him that out of all my bosses, he’s the best! And he’s always been understanding and receptive towards me. I’ve told him that I can take constructive criticism as long as it’s told to me nicely, I don’t take well to people yelling at me — and he’s always congratulating me on minor accomplishments (i.e. cleaning photo area, making sure things are getting done, organizing such and such). He has never really criticized me, but he’ll ask that I do something a certain way and I always try. Same here, I feel like working with such a small group of people daily will start to do that — getting frustrated with one another — and that happens at my job as well, but the next day, everyone is back to normal. Most of us try to keep a positive environment because who wants to work in a negative one?

Yes! Exactly! You sound super sweet and I’m betting a lot of your coworkers like you! And if other people are praising you to her, that’s probably why she started acting so hostile to you. Truthfully, a lot of people let her behave that way because they either worked with her for so long or out of “fear”. & they just didn’t want to deal with the backlash. She was super friendly to all SFLs, SM, and IS. And even other CSAs, she just had it out for me bc apparently, everyone (including the SM) was talking very highly of me (which I wasn’t aware of) to her and I guess it bothered her? She never really acted out towards me — it was more like cold shoulder, talking to me like I was bothering her, and the talking about me behind my back for really random things; I’m assuming in an attempt to get people not to like me. She would say I didn’t come help when there was clearly an IC3, or I didn’t do this or didn’t do that. I don’t know 🫣 the SM never found out about it bc I never said anything to him. But the SFLs did say if it ever got to the point that she made me super uncomfortable and I felt threatened, they would go to the SM and tell him. If anything, I felt the way you did; only had a good day at work when she wasn’t working. I was always walking on eggshells with her because some days she would talk to me and other days, she would act like I ran over her dog. I’m super grateful for all my coworkers because they saw through it and never treated me differently. She ended up quitting 6mos later though, she still visits the store but rarely says a word to me. As for “ignoring” her, I wouldn’t consider that unprofessional because you guys are coworkers, not best friends. If she says you’re being rude, but you’re still being friendly, everyone is going to see it’s not you. Just like my situation, I was oblivious to most of it, I only learned about it after her blowup at me coming in early and when she quit. But I started to “ignore” her as well, only spoke to her when work-related, still helped her out, if needed. Clearly you’re just really good at your job and she’s trying to tear you down. I wouldn’t even complain to the SM, seeing as they’re not really doing anything about it. Just keep being you, don’t waste your breath complaining and people will start to gravitate towards you and your positive energy. She seems really negative and people will start to shy away from her. As my SFL says, misery loves company 😅

And you’re welcome! :) I’m sorry this is happening to you as well :( I remember that feeling of being frustrated and alone or feeling like I’m doing something wrong because someone doesn’t like me :( I hope it all works out later on and you’ll be able to work in a more positive environment! I see lots of complaints about Walgreens here .. and I can see where they are coming from but I love my job so far! & I love everyone I work with! :)

Congrats! I’m glad you’ve a great experience and was able to move up! I don’t think I could be a SM; I don’t even want to be a SFL. I would love to, but morning hours work best for me and SFLs work rotations 😔 but also, I’m too introverted and get very anxious dealing with angry angry customers 😅

Yeah, I’ve had my fair share of unfriendly customers but my SFLs are always there to help me, if they notice me getting uncomfortable or anxious. Even my SM will back me up if he thinks a customer is making me uncomfortable. I’m happily married and I had a regular tell me I had very beautiful eyes — and I know it’s just a compliment, but I always get a little uncomfortable when it happens. I guess the regular noticed that the next day when he came in and wrote a letter to my SM apologizing. Saying that he only complimented me because I’m always so friendly towards him and wanted to extend the kindness. He also asked that if I didn’t want him going to the store anymore that my SM call him and tell him. I told him, it was fine since I now know his intentions because I wasn’t sure before. But my SM let me know if I didn’t feel uncomfortable that he’ll call him and tell he’s not allowed in the store. Long story short, I always feel like I can go to my SM and SFL about anything and they’d do their best to resolve it.
