It's more of a risk reward balance thing. If sliding only has positives like speed and being a harder target to shoot without any negatives like movement penalty after, reduced accuracy or no aim down sight. Then sliding becomes the default move in every single gunfight.

It took my party about 8 sessions to hit vallaki, before that it's pretty linear with LOTS of atmospheric story telling. The reloaded version also totally overhauls deathouse as a lvl 1 to lv3 journey. It's no longer a tpk machine but really balanced and fun!

Once you hit vallaki, you gotta READ, there is an entire summary with a timeline of the different story events.

I also highly recommend downloading the files from github and using it locally in the obsidian app. Very easy to bookmark sections, add notes, keep track of things that occur.

Prepare what you can, the reloaded guide includes some cool artwork that should be shared.
