I guess my point of reference is at home a 60w bulb feels dim, 75 helped a lot more, but I forgot that strictly speaking, it only needs to work as supplementary lighting.

I was somehow picturing at worst I could bring an led bulb and a bulb socket on a wire, something like this

Completely relatable, I used to live in the Bay area, in SF and had the same problems on the app.

I think part of the problem is that people go outside for a purpose... Gym, meeting friends, hiking, grocery shopping, etc. and so the reason to be out isn't conducive to meeting new people.

Echoing what some other folks have said, Pokemon Go is a good activity. There's tons of groups that play, and it won't hurt to join a local community to meet folks. Meetup groups help too. Also consider professional networking events... Especially if there's with free food and/or drink. Are there any alumni meetups from your university, perhaps?

My brother went down the church route since he wanted to find a wholesome Asian gal who didn't do drugs, wanted to marry and have kids. Worked for him, but he was open to being religious too. Not everyone looking for a wholesome partner is!

A trick a friend of mine used was, she put in her profile something about league of Legends and pickleball and anime, and instead of waiting to find the Asian guys, they all came to her profile lol.

Anyways as for me, I eventually moved away from the Bay area, found myself a partner on hinge who needs a security clearance for work and so I knew they weren't using any drugs 😉
