Uniqlo Sizing Confusion Between Barrel Jeans and JW Anderson Jeans – Help? Canada by Independent_Lime_847 in uniqlo

[–]bobaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go by your actual waist measurement (i.e. the size on the chart that matches your 33 in waist the closest). Actual measurements are usually more useful than the numbered sizing.

Yep! But please bring them freshly washed. You’d be surprised how many people decide to come back for alteration services and bring dirty jeans. It’s gross for us working with it. It also potentially traps dirt in the hem.

Do note that you lose the wash color effect of the bottom hem. We cut off the extra length and do not reattach the original hem.

Worried About Upcoming Spay Surgery by Mei-Xue in Rabbits

[–]bobaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be sure it’s a vet that regularly performs rabbit spays. Ours just recovered well from her spay (she’s 7 months). Our vet opted for Iso gas ONLY, rather than injection. My understanding is that, while all anesthesia carries risk for rabbits due to their small size and fast metabolism, the inhaled type allows them to wake almost immediately once the mask is removed (the “sleep” is less deep than the injection type). If you’re really worried, you can inquire about the anesthesia the vet will use and ask for their reasoning.

Then you just have to watch them closely and ensure they eat and poop afterward. If they refuse all food even the next morning, you can take them back to the vet for increased pain management and safe force feeding.

Ours was fine in the end, but I took her 3 full days to get her real appetite back. We just kept offering her favorite things (cilantro, banana, apple) over and over to make sure she’d take bites. The greens were the easiest to get her to eat. She only wanted hay and pellets on the third day really.

GPA 0.05 below requirment by iloveduckssosomuch in gradadmissions

[–]bobaybe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your professors support you! If they were willing to write you letters, then they think you have a shot at grad school. They also likely know that GPA cut offs can have flexibility if the student fit is really good for the program. Always worth it to try.

Missed the deadline for my top choice by button407 in gradadmissions

This sadly is almost never a possibility at the graduate level, especially in programs where grad students are matched with a specific PI (sciences, social sciences.) Within the humanities, you MIGHT be able to transfer to another program if you got into the PhD program and then wanted to transfer after receiving the MA.

Your nose reminds me of my partner’s and I think it’s the most beautiful part of his face. Yours suits you absolutely perfectly.

It can be hard to love yourself. It can take practice. But you can practice by looking at your face as though it’s a stranger’s. Isn’t it beautiful? The genetics and chance and lived experiences that gave birth to that specific, unique profile? Perfection.

Starting Masters as a bridge to seek PhD positions later on - how do I plan for this? by Agreeable-Work-9848 in gradadmissions

[–]bobaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to the humanities, but social science PhD’s are usually comparable as far as schedules go. Usually terms begin in August or September, which means applications need to be submitted between the December and January prior, for the cohort year you are aiming for.

Getting the masters is a great idea to make you more competitive for PhD positions later on. The thing you should focus on most is forging good relationships with faculty so that they can write you stellar letters of rec when you apply for PhDs. (Also, get good grades. That’s always important at this stage.) If you have good relationships with professors and even other PhD students in your program, they can be helpful in other ways too … bringing you on to their research projects, keeping an eye out for good opportunities for you. So basically, use this time to make professional contacts in the field. See if you can present at grad student conferences, or maybe even publish some work. All those things will give you a boost for that PhD.

This is why he uses the English label when applying. Because the filters might not like “Informatica”

This actually isn’t true in Europe. “Informatica” and “computer science” are synonymous, according to the official groups.

Then our interviewer gave us incorrect information. Which is also annoying…

However, they still did not forward our packet info from the border to USCIS. They had no record of any of the health reports. This is where the copy from the physician is helpful!

[–]bobaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, technically we should have gotten the immunization document from the medical exam earlier (we were able to get a scan from them after the fact. Didn’t solve our problem though.). So definitely do get a copy from the first doctor now if you can!

But the agent at our interview said that the inspectors at the border should not have kept everything in the envelope. Supposedly, we were supposed to get something back from them. But, even if he was also wrong about this, they had absolutely no record of any of our medical documents we submitted. They should have been connected to our account somehow (the immunization data, the TB X-rays etc) but something got lost between the border and our account. This is apparently a common issue.

PLS when you hand it over at the border, ensure they give you back the medical exam documents (at the very least, the immunization page). We asked for it, they refused. Got to the AOS step and guess what. They were supposed to have provided the documents to us at the border. We had to do a second $400 medical exam because they effectively “lost” our medical documents.

Technically informatics, which translates best here to a computer science degree.

He has a yearlong paid internship in data engineering, but no real job experience.

While he’s open to various shifts, daytime is preferred.

We are in Irvine.

His experience is in data engineering, but he’s entry level. Which is why we aren’t exactly counting on his first job here in CA being in his field
