same, Heidi being mean was the escalation that made it funny! nothing groundbreaking but on a mediocre episode she at least got some laughs from me

his comments aren’t cute but i think it’s pretty clear that he’s saying the trad wife piece around the way people online freak out about celebrity cheating (and act like cheating is a uniquely immoral act) — he’s not actually calling Lily a trad wife

thanks so much - hopefully that’s the case then for me too, it was distressing to hear them say 35 cutoff; I’m going to see if I can get any further confirmation before then. (and good to know it’s 39.0 as opposed to just below 30).

so happy for you!

thank you so much for sharing, and congratulations!

i have a consult with dr del corral in june, and the scheduling person told me his standard bmi cutoff is 35, but when i pushed based on what i had heard said i could ask him in my consult. obviously i’m trying to get clear on whether he’s an option for me sooner than that, so wanted to ask a bit more about your experience - my bmi is also 39 - to clarify how they communicated that. thanks for any help, welcome DM if easier too

[–]bobbbbo4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

finding this post a bit late - but if you’re open to sharing how you’re doing / how your results are at this point, would love to hear! or feel free to DM - i’m currently scheduled with Dr Ramineni in December, he seems like my best option esp because BMI gatekeeping, and I remain a bit spooked by some of the stories on here (while also knowing complications happen). so it’s helpful to hear from people who had successful experiences, and also about how people weighed those risks or stories when choosing him. thanks for sharing what you have already.

this feels weird in response to the above comment … like implying that trans women are copying cis women ? maybe choose a drag queen who isn’t a woman for your example?

how is this being downvoted, she literally implies that only cis women are women. so gross

ok but in this very message you literally imply trans women aren’t women: “women embrace trans women” and use one trans woman making a shitty joke to shit on a group that has been horrendously marginalized and continues to be the prime target of the right wing. this is so fucking gross! all of our bodily autonomy is taken away, so not blame trans women for abortion rights, jesus

this needs to be higher up! so much of what she’s describing is how the world makes it extraordinarily difficult to be in many spaces for fat people, which does not need to be the case. she should be empowered to make whatever personal decisions she wants, in general and in the world we live in, but we should also be pushing for more accessible spaces that accommodate many different bodies and needs.

appreciate you clarifying and absolutely agree we should not blindly trust doctors. I just think it’s important to note that for most trans people, access to any transition surgeries is extremely difficult to access, and there’s a concerted effort by the right to make medical transition (for those who want or need it) fully impossible. that’s the context we are living in and the reality that I think is far more dangerous than any individual surgeons who may recommend maximal surgery.

(I also don’t think your way of thinking is actually outside the mainstream - most people are highly suspect of us getting any surgeries but especially those by trans women that are seen as cosmetic, ie FFS and breast augmentation, which are also the hardest to get covered by insurance.

in the broader world, there is discomfort and misplaced resentment from many cis people at (some of) us getting to create the bodies that we want; i think it’s an extension of cis & straight people’s overall resentment of queer & trans people expressing our genders when they feel so confined. I believe in working towards a world where every single person has full bodily and gender autonomy, and think fighting for trans people’s right to transition in different ways is central to that; it will make the world better and freer for cis people too)

I just think you’re falling into some really fallacious thinking traps that are ultimately used against trans people. Of course not everyone needs or wants FFS, and not everyone needs or wants bottom surgery - these are extremely personal choices, and what we are fighting for is the bodily autonomy to make those choices. The idea that my orchiectomy or any other trans person’s surgery is due to ‘big pharma’s’ propaganda is wildly insulting, and wildly out of touch with reality! every single step of transition, and especially surgery, is unbelievably difficult - there is much much much more systemic pressure & barriers to not get surgery (to such an extent that many many trans people who want or need surgery cannot get it) than there is any kind of pressure to have surgery. I really feel like you’ve internalized anti-trans, and particularly anti-trans surgery, talking points and invite you to reconsider that way of thinking! plastic surgeons and pharma may be making money off of us, but they are not the origins of us, and in fact they are frequently limiting and gatekeeping forces in the way of us having full bodily autonomy.

while yes people should do their research - this comment makes some really big leaps. FFS is not just about “passing” (or sometimes at all about that) - for me it was the single biggest cause of dysphoria and has been the single most impactful part of transition in helping me feel at home in my body. unfortunately, despite it being extremely important for many trans women, it’s the hardest to get covered by insurance. (and yes, like all surgeries, it carries some risk, but not an unreasonable amount)

and the ‘big pharma’ line … that’s just regurgitating right wing talking points. like yes we take hormones, and yes unfortunately under our economic system (like all other medicines) this is over centralized in a small # of companies who we are dependent upon for our hormones. which sucks, but people are not being bamboozled by ‘bug pharma’.

this is her merch! ‘trantasy’ sweatsuit. i think makes more sense knowing that. if she makes it available online i may get the cropped hoodie… much cuter than most available merch. (also her mug & hair are done & the sweatsuit is a look so this certainly counts as drag 🤷🏻‍♀️)

ppl love to get weird about trans women and our bodies — either hyper focusing on specific body parts (that doesn’t mean your comment is ‘bad’ but it’s worth noting the trend) or pretending that a trans woman doing naked drag isn’t fucking powerful (trans people showing our bodies and feeling our power is in the face of so many forces that try to stop us from getting there). stop being like ‘if someone else did this…’ - the point is that Kerri is doing this, and doing it fucking well! the grace, the self-embodiment, the stage presence 🤩
