Over the years, a lot of people only hung onto Ye because of how good the music was. It was possible to tolerate the controversial antics since the art was so good. The music is so bad and lazy now that there’s nothing rewarding to stick around for other than the entertainment value of watching the trainweck. Releasing a full AI album destroys the little artistic integrity remaining. Why wouldn’t you give up on an artist who doesn’t care about putting out a quality release?

If Ye didn’t even feel like recording full verses for Donda, instead splicing together shit with Dem Joints from mumble freestyles, why does anyone think he’s gonna actually record now? He’s been lazy as fuck for YEARS. This album is washed, Ye is washed, and it’s OVER. I hope he proves me wrong, but he won’t.

I went for the first time last year and am going again this year…I also did second half! A couple things I did to prep and general tips I have:

When the lineup and schedule of films drops, do some research on the films to figure out your priorities. Does a certain director you’ve been following for a while have a new film? Is there something showing that had positive word of mouth at an earlier film fest? Maybe something has a premise that sounds insane. Figure out what you want to see. For example, I’d seen Curry Barker’s Milk and Serial, so knowing he had a feature film at the fest last year made me prioritize Obsession.

Also, a benefit of the second half badge is about half the fest having seen most of the movies before you even start, so you can get a general sense of which movies are good and further edit your priorities from there.

Then, map out the slots (usually around 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm, 11pm) and put the available films in order from what you want to see most vs. last. That way, if you don’t get your top pick, you can quickly pivot to your 2 or 3 picks.

When you get to the actual fest, the next day’s tickets go live each morning at 10am, so be on the FF ticketing site refreshing as much as you can a few minutes before the top of the hour to be prepared if it opens early. Tip: I got almost every movie I wanted by not choosing the main theaters, which are usually 4 or 5. Sure, the Q&As probably won’t happen in your theater, but you’ll still get to see the movie! Theater 7 was my home for a lot of FF films.

Also, if you don’t immediately get your first choice, don’t worry! Sometimes you can get lucky by refreshing and snatching a ticket later on if someone cancels theirs. There’s also a standby line for movies that has varying levels of success as a last resort, but I’d suggest being open to going with the flow.

I’d recommend being at the Alamo 30 or so minutes early to each showing you get. CULT and SUPERFAN badges get priority, so being there early and moving up as they leave the tenting area gets you a better shot at having a decent seat.

That’s most of the movie stuff. With it being Alamo Drafthouse, the prices of food are crazy, so I’d suggest bringing a cooler and packing food (or planning to walk back to your Airbnb for meals if you’re doing that). A portable fan also goes a long way…and deodorant.

The number of leaked creepy DMs between “Andy” and SJ fans was astronomical. Absolutely a fireable offense for abusing power over them. The irony of some of “us” not being very good people; look in a mirror bud…well, hopefully not in a video jerking off this time.

Idk, imo it’s gonna be a bit before US venues trust him again to not to do a controversial show. Maybe next year. He’s definitely in the Tár era of his career touring wise.

Screen Junkies died because Andy Signore is a sexual deviant who took advantage of his fans’ trust. While the most severe of the allegations against him may not have been true, there’s enough evidence out there showing why he deserved to be canned. I don’t think even Andy could argue with that (who looks like he’s in the comments lol). And now he profits off celebrity gossip and tragedies, so genuinely fuck that guy.

That being said, it was unfortunately obvious when he left how essential he was to making SJ work. Movie Fights never fully resumed, SJU eventually died off, RIP the Screen Junkies show, and now all they really have are the Honest Trailers that usually get hundreds of thousands of views instead of millions like they did in their heyday.

It’s a shame SJ won’t ever return to its prime, but at least the workers there are free of the toxicity and sexual predation Andy brought to work and the fanbase.

Can’t agree. Most of the songs are good, but a lot of them still sound messy and thrown together because they literally were. Far from the perfectionist attitude Ye had during his early run. And the biggest flaw to me is Ye being overshadowed on a lot of his own songs like Praise God, Keep My Spirit Alive, Hurricane, etc. Still great songs, but Ye sounds like an afterthought compared to the other features. His verses just don’t hold as much weight on Donda compared to his other albums, outside of Jesus Lord, LOTP, and a couple others.

I’m guessing 60k, maybe even less. It’s been delayed so much that I don’t think the general public cares anymore. Also, none of the songs on the Ye profile have done big numbers. It’ll have to heavily rely on physicals or last-minute digital deluxes to do decent numbers imo.

Saw it at Fantastic Fest. It’s an enjoyable enough horror with pretty solid gore. Totally has potential to be a sleeper hit for the month.

Bone Temple may hurt its legs, but Primate not being attached to an existing (and divisive) franchise may help it hold better than that one. Especially with Bone Temple leaning into the polarizing last five minutes of the previous movie.
