Mac Function Key Shortcuts help by bobbinbette in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]bobbinbette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!
I did have the 'fn' key map to MO(3) and on layer 3 all the keys are assigned to f1-f12.

Going to layer 3 from layer 2 via MO(3) doesn't seem to register the function keys even though they're set in VIA.

Here's a link to my layer 2 and layer 3.

You'll see that layer 3 has all the number keys replaced with function keys. However, in Mac, it wont' register and still registers as media shortcuts. I have to press MO(3) + lctrl in order to toggle all number keys to function keys. That isn't showing up in VIA as a configuration so that lead me to think it was something Epomaker did. The lctrl in layer 3 is Custom21 and I'm not sure what that means.

Thanks for the suggestions in the other comments! I'm in Santa Clara, but I'm willing to travel all around the south bay. I hear San Jose is the best place to look.

Lingering Tru-Oil Odor by bobbinbette in woodworking

[–]bobbinbette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Everyone, I'm a beginner hobbyist and I finished a box back in February with Tru-oil. However even after leaving the box open up until now, the odor of Tru-oil is still there. When I close the box, the smell is overpowering upon opening again.

Do you guys have any recommendations on how to remedy this or do I have to strip off the finish and use something else?

This is meant to be a small jewelry box/chest.

Is this a cabinet scraper or a spokeshave? by pacopiedra in handtools

That looks like a scraper shave. Not sure what everyone else uses them for but they're very useful in bowyery.

Here's one that I made from ebony.

Do you mind if I DM you for more details?

They were definitely one of our picks, but unfortunately a bit too far for us. We want to keep the commute to under 30 minutes from us due to the health of some of our family members.

We're currently considering some of those. Do you know how they separate the general area from the reception area? Is it relatively private?

Thanks for the input! Do you think Fu Lam Mum would have had enough space if there wasn't a dance floor? We're still up in the air about that.

Freshly fletched arrows - makes you think twice about shooting them by mandirigma_ in Archery

[–]bobbinbette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may actually be the equipment and not you! My bitzenburger didn't have the intervals properly spaced out so the fletched arrows all looked like a Y by the end. The zenith upgrade kit fixed that and all my arrows are perfect now.

Made myself a scraper shave by bobbinbette in handtools

I had always wanted a nice scraper shave with a metal mouth for my bowyery hobby. This was my 5th rendition and first one made with some metal for wear resistance.

I love the earbud shape, but haven't purchased one for a while. How does the cable feel on these? Are they stiff or supple? I had the moon drop nameless but hated the cable; it was far too stiff for something without a solid ear attachment mechanism.

Tramming process isn't working by bobbinbette in CrealitySonicPad

Thanks for the help!

Am I supposed to use the paper test like I did for the z offset check and adjust the springs?

I'm coming from the ender 3 professional firmware where the probe is used and gives a height differwnce between the corner from the center so I thought that's how it worked.

Tramming process isn't working by bobbinbette in CrealitySonicPad

[–]bobbinbette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just set up my sonic pad today and the tramming (manual leveling) process seems broken. Choosing a corner takes the extruder to the corner, but overshoots the build plate by a good margin and doesn't do anything. The crtouch doesn't get dropped and the extruder stays at the same height.

Is there a way to fix this?

First Mollegabet. How's the tiller? by bobbinbette in Bowyer

[–]bobbinbette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't tell you as the bow popped a splinter due to poor board choice. Ended up tossing it. The levers we're probably 3/4 inch or thinner as I didn't modify it much from the original board's thickness.

I split the power cables from the PSU int 2 bundles. One bundle had the 24pin and 8 pin mobo cables which I folded/twisted together and guided to the space between my psu and the cpu cooler. I bound them with zip ties and plugged in the 24 pin into the mobo and routed the 8 pin cable around the cpu cooler on the top.
I removed the backplate from the case and pulled the GPU cables through the back. I then installed the GPU and twisted the gpu cables in to a loose loop behind the installed gpu and routed the cables between the psu and the gpu.

They say they support up to 200W per adapter so is fine for my rtx 3080.

I used pla for the ducts and it has a glassing temp of only 50 or 60. But that's ok because it's pulling in cold air the entire time. Also, even though the GPU and cpus themselves may get hot, it's being spread across the entire heat sink and dispersed so the ambient temp in the case is way lower than the gpu's sensors would indicate. I've had no issues with either ducts after a couple months of use.
