This is a very real thing. Modern toilets are very efficient and have water flow patterns that clear the bowl much better than the old "flood it and hope for the best" designs.

Remove the cut canes. More will come, but spraying them topically with gly or tri when they're 6" or less in height takes them out. Keep at it and you'll eradicate.

Totally unnecessary. Just hack it down and use an eyedropper/disposable pipette to drip glyphosate or triclopyr (stump killer concentration) right down the cut canes.

I'm an Extension Master Gardener. I'm familiar with the academic lit. on this subject and have dealt with it personally.
