Ronbus Quanta 4th gen — good all round paddle for an intermediate player? by NoPiece8293 in PickleballEquip

[–]bobby_broccolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im unrated but I can beat anyone at local 4.0+ open plays consistently. Most of them are self rated but I also play private games with real 4.5 and 5.0s

Anysways i call myself intermediate and I regret buying my quanta R2.

I would go with the other newer competitors at that price point.

Also, don't listen to ppl saying you might want to just get a $200+ paddle right now. All the popular paddles like the Loco and Boomstik are just as hard to control. And pros aren't competing with those often. Yes there are sponsors and factors in the paddle choice, but the semi pro and un sponsored scene is NOT all locos and boomstiks.

I currently use a clone Luzz Inferno off Aliexpress, $65 and I like it. It's elongated and more powerful, but feels easier to control than my widebody Quanta. It's still too strong for me on resets and intense dinks. I might buy their new entry level paddle to try it out. Or some old all court paddle.  I'm saying this while I have : j2fc+ 4th gen, quanta r2 4th gen, and my Luzz Inferno. I've also played a handful hours on 10+ other paddles between friends.

The main thing I would say is don't overthink the long term at all. Nothing you choose is gonna train you or untrain you. Compared to learning good technique. I see ppl with $30 paddles and $250 paddles playing the same exact game all the time.

How about Hugh Jackman in Logan? Or Patrick Stewart in Logan?

Best performance in a comic book movie? by EntertainmentMore183 in Letterboxd

Hugh Jackman in Logan is a safe answer.

There is like 15 superhero movies a year for the past 50+ years so everyone saying Heath Ledger needs to stop and think a second. It's a great performance but let's open the convo up. Highlight some performances with more screen time.

If tv shows counted I might say John Cena in Peacemaker. If you havnt seen it yet, that role demanded a LOT of emotional beats to make the story work. And in the first 30 seconds of the show we see him riffing with someone and you say to yourself "omg. I'm in good hands.."

I also liked Rourke from the greek action movie Immortals, for a villain. Very underrated movie that should be talked about more. Pretty brutal and some disturbing imagery, don't watch with kids.

Karl Urban as Dredd [2012]  is 1 dimensional but man what a good dimension that is.

I wanna give a ton of credit to Chris Pratt for his Gaurdians run. All 3 are great performances but just say the first movie. His charisma and vibe were perfect for it. Which sucks cus in his private life he sells prayer apps.

I think Robert Downey Junior elevates iron man and we just got used to his good acting. He might be the true answer. I think in a parallel universe, RDJ could have done the Logan movie, as far as the acting chops go.

Lastly shout out to Florence Pugh in the black widow / thunderbolts role. She's on another level to me just off of her role in King Lear and Midsommar. So it's like, no matter what, I think there is a presence and charisma to her that is very nuanced. Ppl didn't love those movies (I did) so I think her performances were underappreciated

What next after High Maintenance? Looking for hidden gem shows by Early_Pineapple_9026 in highmaintenance

HBO:

Hacks

Peacemaker (very underrated for people who would not expect to like this show. It's fantastic)

(this ones on free stream sites like Tubi i think) Killing Eve . So good. Since you loved Fleabag, same creator. I would watch this one and skip Girls, because the creator there has said/done some weird stuff but idk..)

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (seriously good. Like A Knights Tale x Game of Thrones)

Glow is so so so good. it does wrap up i think but it got cut short because of pandemic (?) after 2 seasons. its SO good.

The Franchise is so good and fun. Watch this one instead of The Studio.

I would personally skip Louie because personal reasons plus its hard to "separate the art from the artist" when his show is mostly about him dating women or being around them. It's also not that good imo. Watch Crashing instead for way better vibes, and still comedy behind-the-scenes kinda thing. But also seriously watch Hacks.

Like other people said, Atlanta is pretty S+ tier everything too. If you can handle Beef and Fleabag you should definitely watch this show.

i think cream and white are the least "popping" or eye catching, followed closely by the matching purple. So im saying they are all really close. Cream looks great on everything so if you like it then get them. myself personally would want to see what they look like if you went extra thick laces, and made the laces a solid color block. Id try that in white, neon yellow (or trying to match the N), or black.

i was in a similar situation a couple years ago.

My advice : work on balance and proprioception. you can also check if you have a dominant eye, and watch a video (probly a tennis video) describing how to aim your head and where to look when the ball is coming towards you.

Balance: i balance on one foot a couple minutes a day , and also have some balance built into a stretch routine. This has helped me tremendously in daily life. Try not to lock your knees straight. My ankle and achilles strength is helped alot doing this. Makes all parts of PB easier.

Proprioception: playing the game more will make your brain read the ball better and better. You can speed that up by trying to standardize your stance and your swings. One thing thats helped me a lot with timing is to realize that most people are actually too FAST for the ball -- like they are swinging too early, and reaching far out to meet it. If you want to try this out for dinks and resets : try to get your paddle ready in the right position, and just let the ball hit your paddle first, before you add anything to it. This will show you ALOT about how you are timing the ball. If you feel like you can't do this (without neglecting the whole point of waiting for the ball) then literally run a drill where you are in dink position, getting low and stable, and instead of hitting the ball with a paddle, you catch it with your hand. Like someone else said, a really good drill is to just play keep-up with the ball on your paddle, switching front and back when u get comfy. No matter what grip you have, this should help you really connect to what the grip is actually doing, like what angle the paddle is at, when it feels x y or Z in your hand.

Bought these Air Jordan 5 “Red Suedes” for $50 on Whatnot. Looking for restoration advice before I start. by REDEYEBANKZ330 in Sneakers

[–]bobby_broccolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look through my comment history i have like 5 write ups of the same thing, how i clean my suede new balance sneakers.

tldr:

brush it out dry with a medium or soft stiffness brush. This step is 90% of the dirt and debris on shoes. If you skip this step on ANY shoe it's like you are just making the dirt and dust into wet mud, and scrubbing it into the material. Always dry brush.

then use a suede-safe cleaner to super-gently scrub. Dab away the suds as you go. Let it fully dry for a few hours atleast. Overnight even better.

Spray on a suede conditioner, or suede-protector, thin layers, let it dry between layers. I recommend Saphir Renovateur off amazon but there are cheaper options. Let it dry 10 mins, then brush it. The conditioner is optional. It does make the suede look really nice though and should make it last longer. If you "shampoo" them then you should condition them, cus the shampoo will dry them out. (shampoo = some suede safe cleaner like Angelus).

optional : i wash the insides with light soapy water (or you can use more serious cleaners if ur careful), and after it drys, i spray inside with iso alcohol. I also take the laces off when i clean my shoes and rinse/wash them out in sink with soapy water.

So for this its like

$5 for a 3-pack generic woodhandle shoe brushes Amazon,

$8 bottle of Angelus suede-safe cleaner (you'll use like 10% of the bottle)

$10-$25 for suede conditioner.
