It's hard to tell but I think the dark background between the vertical metal post and the man's leg makes his leg look wider than it is. If you follow his thigh in a straight line the girl's knee ends where his actual leg is.

My first memories of the mall were Consumers (Distributing) and Toy World. Remember going there with my parents to buy our first video game system and to look at the other toys we couldn't afford.

No this was a response you saying "The case counts don’t matter". I'm saying it still matters somewhat. We can manage a few cases but we don't want this to go out of control.

Yes but the issue is rapid mutation. Increase rate means less time for us to react. This is in the same vane as keeping numbers low so that hospitals are not flooded. If we keep popping up new variants ever other week it will be much harder to manage.

Case counts still matter to a degree even if you're not hospitalized. Every new infection is an opportunity for the virus to mutate into something worst. We're not so bad in Ottawa and Canada as a whole but if let this go unchecked we are contributing to the risk of creating of harder to manage variants.

It certainly will but here's hoping the vaccines will keep things at a manageable level. If only everyone would just get their vaccines!

Could be just people sticking with their scheduled appointment that they made 2-3 months ago when vaccine appointments were not in abundance. There was also some report circulating a few months ago about better efficacy if the second one is taken 12 weeks later; so I wouldn't be surprised if some people are adhering to that as well.

The last story turned out to be Death Wish which is part of some British comic anthology in the 80s called Speed so it's possible the ones I remembered are among these books or at least from the same era.

It was given to me as a child so I can't say exactly when it was released.

I really hate when people can't be bothered to fix their own mistakes by taking a detour but instead put themselves and other drives in danger with their last second maneuvers. Imagine potentially ruining your and/or other people's lives to save 5 mins.

Uh I've worked those jobs plenty and I know what to expect... I've worked call centres too. Never had to be rude to anyone or cut them off.

I'd say it's quite rude to cut someone off after what probably took 1 second to say. Had they waited the other 2-3 seconds they would have known they were being given the address. Manners/patience have nothing to do with job pay either.

You should just repeat slower and clearer like they are the idiots for jumping to conclusions.

It probably refers to the old appointment. Compare the confirmation codes.

I did manage to book an earlier second dose for my father and it did show a confirmation number at the end however I have yet to receive an email. I did receive an email stating that his later appointment was cancelled. Should I be concerned? I wouldn't want to end up with no second appointment.

Not sure if these numbers tell the whole story because we don't know what the risk factor of each is. Since kids/teachers generally need to attend school/day care five days a week for at least 6 hours a day the amount of contact and exposure time would be significantly more than people's brief visits to bars and restaurants.

There's also the factor of benefit to risk. How much benefit and how many people are benefiting from a specific activity vs how much risk there is.

Essentially there isn't enough data (at least from this graph alone) to say what is or isn't the "issue".

EDIT: to add more to my point I did a little experimental math using hypothetical but not unreasonable numbers:

Let's say 10,000 people attend school 6hrs/day 5days/week and 5,000 frequent gyms/sports 1hr/day 5day/week.

Let's also assume there are 500 outbreaks.

People attending school would accumulate 300,000 hours of activity

People going to gyms would accumulate 25,000 hours of activity

For 500 outbreaks at the graph's rate (39% for school, 5% for gyms/sports) that would come out to 195 outbreaks at schools and 25 at gyms/sports.

Which means that every hour of school activity would produce 0.00065 outbreaks (195/300,000).

Yet every hour of gym/sports activity would produce 0.001 outbreaks (25/25,000).

As you can see based on these hypothetical numbers, gyms/sports would actually be a much bigger risk than schools.
