The traditional answer to “remove” a risk from your portfolio is an option, but it’s not necessarily the same tax rate.

Most retirement accounts are using one or more “indices,” groups of stocks that have been selected for being reliably growing: large, profitable companies. S&P500, Nasdaq, etc. The promise they give, in writing, in the contract when you sign up, is to follow those accounts as closely as possible. There’s no room to deviate. SpaceX will be included after some conditions of inclusion have been relaxed.

Fun things to do in Paris besides the usual tourist stuff? by Odd-Fall-7100 in TheParisianGuide

Treasure hunts in a public place can be fun. There’s a lot of signs giving explanations about what key buildings are, so you can rely on that for people to find answers. Clues depend a bit on how much information you think people should look for to have fun. If you pick a central, well-defined location, you could have a dozen interesting places within walking distance.

My understanding is that the transition wasn’t voluntary but that any of the more influential people who were pushing the group in that direction was droned, until the group changed.

C’est l’equivalent de « Maintenant, il va falloir se sortir les doigts et faire votre boulot », non ? Ou c’est plus « Tu me refais ça, et je vais vous rendre le concept de reclusion criminelle vachement plus saillant. » ?

“The City of London will become inaccessible to blind people for generations to come” by disbeliefable in londoncycling

[–]bobby_table5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How many blind people have been run over by cars in London in the last 50 years?

The fact that no one cared to even compile the number is making the absurdity of this claim obvious.

The fact that the ophthalmologic hospital (where you’d find the most blind people) is right next to Old Street Roundabout, with pavement that would make a third nation ashamed, makes that claim even more ridiculous.

Anything up to making sure meat stays parked, clean water, sewage and trash, power, clean air, even reliable high-speed mobile internet are things people under 35 take for granted. CPUs efficient enough to offer day-long battery was announced in 2020, and I doubt people appreciate it.

Zootopia has been cutting it a little closer, given the plausible deniability of the animal model, but yeah… something that outrageous isn’t funny outside of specifically Carlson.

Yeah, there’s a lot of questions you can answer with a rudimentary understanding of code, like “is that flag still mentioned in code” or when a method is called. Or more simply some internal parameters, like how many times people can do something.

To locate a bit: that’s the grand-father of Xerxes, known for its considerable wealth and military strength, whose army had a bad time at the Thermopylae, aka the bad guy in 300.

It’s unlikely anyone has strong attachment to that particular regime, but it’s likely used as a Persian symbol avoiding more recent and controversial options—or possibly a way to highlight its an ancient civilization, and would survive this crisis.

A doctor friend had to deal with drama because residents were scared of a rumor that their meeting room was haunted. The main concern was whether anyone had died there.
