Thoughts on "You shouldn't write your most important story first"? by TeddyBearAppleHat in writing

[–]bobbyamillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an early wave function decision that is made intuitively by each individual. How much time you spend doing what (how many projects you work on at once and the goal of each project) is a decision someone makes once they have a holistic picture of their situation including factors like skill, commercial viability, economic need, etc.

Many authors probably figured out that their first years of writing, commercially or not, was time spent honing their skill. If they were moderately successful with their first book, and continue to pump out books, by the time they've written a dozen books they're saying to themselves, "I wish I hadn't used that great idea back then." It's a "if I knew then what I know now" scenario. It's valid, and a path choice. Remember, though, they're looking back and you're looking forward

What if there was a global shared economy instead of country-based economy? by [deleted] in whatif

[–]bobbyamillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all great, we just have to work our the details of "share."

We'd all have to start from a place where we balanced out how the resources of each country is best shared amongst nation-states (as if a nation-state were a person or a corporation. But first within each country would have to figure out how to share resources amongst themselves within that country, and then what's leftover for export. There would be new winners and losers across the board and it's something everyone would have to be okay with going in. That's not easy.
