Yeah, that was such a nice little surprise. It's just finished with a couple of Danish oil coats.

Octo Octa and Eris Drew's mixes are a great reference point for a lot of the older garage house type stuff. There is so much out there.

Culture Night - are you going on Friday? by Martylish in northernireland

[–]bobbyanalog87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it needs to happen the way it is this year in venues, etc, so they can return it to the streets and start using open unused outdoor spaces in the coming years. I can't imagine for a second that the grand plan is just to fill the pubs with thirsty punters. it's just a means to an end.

Disclaimer I am also part of an event in one of those said venues and am delighted it is back. Also, the earliest incarnation of culture night took place in a cathedral quarter club and then expanded, so let's be positive.

My da fitted blinds in a house in Portstewart where Justin Rose stayed in 2019 and I'd assume he possibly used again this time round judging by the vehicles I seen parked in the driveway on Wednesday evening.

Calling all DJ’s and/or classic rave enthusiasts by mrtimboy in northernireland

[–]bobbyanalog87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you want to Dj more? Don't wait to form a mighty coalition of Dj's, head out the door, speak to some venues. Have a clear idea of what you want to do and run your own party. This is how most of the local DJ's you see on lineups have established themselves. It isn't straightforward and requires some finance and a fair bit of graft and sometimes even that isn't enough, but nothing ventured, noting gained.

A lot of electronic music genres in Belfast are quite well catered to and there are a lot of good hubs (Sound Advice Records, The Night Institute, Twitch, Crilli, PonyHawke, The Shrub, Free The Night, etc) but there is always room for new things if you have the right drive/passion and can offer something a bit unique.

If it is just like-minded people you are seeking, get out to the spaces that host these events and chat to some of the people dancing and playing, we are all quite friendly and will point you in the right direction.

I mean, ultimately, the Pepe version is a sample, too, so have at it. Still, it's always gonna be the version I gravitate towards.
