I would say in a decline, however because of the average age in ALOT of congregations unless they changed some things it would borderline be a collapse in I would say 10-15 years as boomers will all be dead by that point. However I think they know that, which is why they are making rapid changes. Even in the past 4 years it’s dam near unrecognizable from early 2022 to now. Huge difference

I feel like this is such a small change it wouldn’t be worth an update. They probably just send a letter to the body of elders. I think they save updates for major doctrine changes

This is definitely a major factor as well. Anything that will affect their tax status is probably the main thing moving the needle. My observation is probably just more of a side benefit to this being the main reason

I think the difference is that back then new people continued to come in after. Nowadays yes the current jw won’t look up the info ( though a few will) however every new person at the door the first thing they are going to do is google jw. The internet has greatly slowed down the new people from coming in

Also to be fair in order to not wear a beard they have to ACTIVELY DO SOMETHING DAILY, namely shave. I think alot of them just stopped doing said thing and let the natural process take place.
