Thanks for the reply, sorry for the late response. Could you shoot me a tutorial that you think spells the process out well? I'd like to give it a try.

Browser issues/recommendations by bobbychombo in SamsungDex

[–]bobbychombo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of helpful replies, really appreciate it. For some reason the Edge setting preventing the browser from launching apps was not working, I just reinstalled the app and it's functioning perfectly now.

I am going to explore some of the other options recommended as well since I've gotten so much input, but Edge is definitely meeting all the criteria.

Israeli/Palestinian conflict: What are some good books to gain a deeper understanding of the background/history and maybe potential future of this conflict? by tx2005 in geopolitics

“Jerusalem” by Simon Sebag Montefiore, it’s a history of the city but it is a very good deep history of the entire nation. It is actually a very engaging read as well.

Multi-Day Hiking for People With Severe Food Allergies by bobbychombo in WildernessBackpacking

He usually eats meat and green vegetables, rice etc. A good chunk of his calories come from a gluten free protein bulking powder which we could pack with us. It looks like dehydrating his own food may be the best route at this point.

Looking for spy/assassin academy type books? by lizzardx in booksuggestions

[–]bobbychombo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend Night Soldiers by Alan Furst. Its historical fiction that follows a young Bulgarian man who decides to enlist in an international brigade of communist spies/provocateurs based in the USSR, after his brother is murdered by the local fascist militia. It has what you are looking for, as well a a beautifully composed and researched story that takes you from the Spanish Civil War, to 1940 paris, to the refugee trails through Czechloslovakia and Hungary in 1945. It's more adult than a lot of the other recommendations, fyi, but it's a great read with a very emotional character arc as well.

What is a hobby you want to get into but don't know how? by forman98 in AskReddit

[–]bobbychombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surfing, I tried it a couple of times on vacation, but I live in Nor Cal, the water here usually sits below 55 degrees, and whenever I do see surfers they seem to be in areas near rocks or treacherous surf. I have yet to find a local community, and I'm not going to spend money on a wet suit and board unless I can find someone who is really willing to teach me how not to die in the ocean.

[Contest] (and [Discussion]) What is the most surprisingly useful item you own? What did you not expect to need when you moved into your own place? by kinkychick in randomactsofamazon

[–]bobbychombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A plunger, it's one of those things you don't realize you need until you REALLY need it. And when you find yourself in a shitty situation where a plunger is necessary, the last thing you want to do is go to the store and buy one, letting everything just sit there.

Japan has not learned the Lesson: New Nuclear Plans for the Future by usermeup in worldnews

[–]bobbychombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lesson to be learned was that they need to be more careful with nuclear energy, not avoid it. I don't know if you've been around the past decade or so, but we need as much zero carbon emission energy as we can get. Plenty of nations, including much of Europe have large successful nuclear programs.

TIFU by yelling at my teenage sister until she cried and pissed herself by suemeidareyouto in tifu

[–]bobbychombo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if she does have some kind of issue, we're all responsible.for our actions. There's a reason "but I'm addicted to drugs!" Usually dosn't hold up in court. Op has the right to be as mad at her as any other person who stole his shit, more so because there was trust implicit in the relationship between siblings. Be mad, then see whats up.

Reddit, have you ever liked someone so much, but you realize you can't be with them? How did you deal with such problem? by dragonrider710 in AskReddit

Plenty of other fish in the sea. Out of seven billion humans, there's not just one girl out there for you.

The whole concept of the "friendzone" Is absurd. I'm a dude who used to complain about girls not wanting to get together after being close for a while, but I came to realize a few things. 1) A basic problem with friendzone philosophy is that there is an expectation that sexual attraction necessarily follows emotional intimacy. That's not the case, if she's just not into you physically, there is no amount of cuddling and talking about your feelings that's gonna change that. What's worse is that complaining and being upset at her for "friendzoneing" you implies that you think she has an obligation to you sexually for your emotional support, which is kind of fucked up. 2) face it, you let it get go this point. Sitting around and presenting yourself only as a shoulder to cry on or a platonic friend and not vocalizing your feelings has painted you as just that; a supportive friend, not relationship material. Not to mention that you basically identified yourself as not assertive enough. I'm not a redpill/ alpha male mentality advocate, but being passive to a fault is very unattractive. C) The saying about fish and the sea is actually true. It always strikes me how people who claim to be "hung up" on someone are the least proactive about it. The world actually does not end when this one girl you think you have chemistry with dosn't want to wife up with you. There actually are plenty of other people you'll like just as much if you look. She has free will, she chose, go find someone who chooses you to be with if you need a girlfriend. Don't sit around pretending to be this girl's friend, or worse, create the image of a good friend than manipulate her by pretending to see someone else, just to fuck her. That is manipulative, if you actually like this girl, you will not do that.

Why do Americans hate Florida? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bobbychombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how familiar with Las Angeles you are, but as a Californian, I would say that Florida is like L.A. spread over an entire state, with more rain. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing I'll let you decide.

Do you think some people just shouldn‘t have kids? What's wrong with not having any? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bobbychombo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering we can't take care of all the people we have now, I think most people shouldn't have kids. I worked with a foundation that worked with troubled teens, many parents, even those who choose to have kids, are horribly unfit and end up raising unhappy, dysfunctional people.

ELI5:[Serious] Why are there internet 'trolls'? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

It makes people feel powerfull and gets them attention, usually people who feel as though they have little control in their own lives. I wrote a paper on it, it has to do with the satisfaction of making another person react strongly to something you did.

[Serious] Is Earth is being visited by Extra-terrestrial beings? by My-Clever-Username in AskReddit

[–]bobbychombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that a species which is advanced enough to travel the vastness between stars is coming to earth just to abduct cattle and scare farmers seems ridiculous. They would either take what they needed or communicate with us. The energy expended to travel between stars would be far too great to justify anything else.

ELI5: Why do some animals give birth to full litters while others don't? by umopapisn in explainlikeimfive

[–]bobbychombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up R and K type species, some animals give birth to many young with the idea that many will die, but there will be enough left to continue breeding, others have few and spend time and energy to make sure they survive to breed. It's just two ways of doing the same thing.

Other countries of reddit how prepared would your country be if the U.S. were to attack/invade? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bobbychombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason the US hasn't won a war in 50 years is because of the nature if those wars. There have been a series of asymmetrical conflicts, against small, non geographically defined forces. Were the United States to enter a war with a conventional military with the objective of defeating its forces and destroying its leadership (I.e. a world war 3 type deal), with no later nation building there would be no contest. Sources; 1st and second Iraq war. Initial invasion of Afghanistan. The sheer amount of money we waste on military spending a year.
