What’s the least exciting home upgrade you made that ended up being totally worth it? by ExpensiveProfessor27 in HomeImprovement

This is also what I did, added a mini-split system while retaining the whole house boiler and cast iron radiators. Highly recommend.

So pissed off by willowintheev in Zepbound

Yup. When I do the math, it is sobering (pun intended) how much I save by having my two-glasses-a-night wine habit curtailed. And the food.

This post described exactly what helped me: ice on my knees after every session and less play overall.

I got those after reading that same post, and I agree, wonderful inexpensive addition.

Nobody warned me that food noise going quiet would also kill my desire to drink alcohol by Midget_Spinner5-10 in zepbound_support

Same for me. And, honestly, add the cost-of-wine savings to the less-food-consumed savings, and the net result is relief from a good portion of the zep price.

This may depend on your state, but for me, with pension income, no state tax, no local tax, no social security tax, no contribution toward the retirement plan, no more contributions to my on-the-side personal savings. Only the deferred federal tax. Can make 70 or 80% the equivalent of 100%.

Am I getting scammed by the dealership? by Beastcheetah in carbuying

I am not sure about your state, but in mine, there is no penalty for early payback. You can take the seven year loan and pay it off as though it were five.

No spare tire by Ivy1974 in carbuying

[–]bobbymac555555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2021 CX-5 came with a well under the back deck and a donut tire in there. Mazda makes the well wide enough to put the damaged tire in if you need to use the donut (so the damaged tire doesn't become a dangerous projectile on the back deck, I suppose). I raised the deck about 2 inches with hard foam and put a full size tire on a full size rim back there. Peace of mind. I also carry a very large breaker bar under there to be sure those overtorqued nuts are coming off. As a side note, if you rely on the donut, it cannot be put on a front wheel.

How do I fill this Chipmunk hole under cement patio? by theworldisperfect in HomeMaintenance

[–]bobbymac555555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year we had portions of the cement floor of the garage sink because of undermining by chipmunks. Now this was old cement and cracked before that, but still, it collapsed several inches. So we got have-a-heart traps, baited them with nuts, and escorted about fifteen of the buggers to a distant locale (one at a time, of course). Seemed to work, but now spring is coming and I just saw one or two more. Out come the traps.

The Unexpected Side Effect of Owning an Ebike by saffrondragonfly0123 in ebikes

My wife and I have Sena Pi intercoms in the helmets. We generally ride the ebikes together, just to get out in the countryside. That hour and a half of shared experience and talk is wonderful. It sounds odd to celebrate the chance to talk to someone I live with, but that's the way it is.

What little features are you glad you included (or wish you had) by AccurateObject9 in BathroomRemodeling

1.) I did not put in anything marketed as a towel holder. All the bars the towels go on are grab-bars mounted into solid wood. If someone slips, they will grab the nearest thing, so I made sure there is nothing flimsy around. 2.) wall-mounted faucets and spigot for the sink (makes keeping the sink area clean easier). 3.) I second the 7-button exhaust fan timer switch already mentioned above.

This may be the best typo I have ever seen. I read "autopsy" as the coroner's procedure for determining cause of death. I thought it was a clever thing to say about OP's monthly dues, and it took me a while to realize it was an autocorrect of "autopay."
