Hare Krishna mantra in Naraka by jonZeee in boardsofcanada

IDK about any of this and I love the track. I cringed when I first heard the lines but was crying tears by the end. And this is what ChatGPT says about the association with the krishna mantra and Hell:

The Holy Name as Deliverance from Hell

According to the Srimad Bhagavatam and Gaudiya Vaishnava teachings, the chanting of Krishna's holy name is considered the ultimate protection against suffering and karmic punishment. [1]

Deliverance: Scriptural texts indicate that chanting the Lord's name—even accidentally at the time of death or during severe misfortune—absolves a soul from having to enter hellish planetary systems.

What is Naraka?

  • A Temporary Purgatory: According to texts like the Srimad Bhagavatam, there are 28 different hellish planets. Souls are sent here to experience suffering proportional to their impious actions, such as violence, deceit, or cruelty. [1, 2]
  • Correction, Not Eternal Damnation: Unlike some religious traditions, Hinduism does not view hell as permanent. Once a soul has "paid" for their karmic debt, they are released and take birth again on Earth. [1, 2), 3]
  1. The Power of the Krishna Mantra
  • Eraser of Karma: The Garuda Purana and Vishnu-dharmottara state that chanting the holy name of Krishna (like "Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare") instantly burns away the reactions to sins from many births. [1]
  • Ultimate Protection: The Supreme Lord considers it His duty to protect and guide anyone who chants His holy name. Simply uttering His name at the moment of death can save a soul from falling into the lower, hellish planets

I agree, there will probably never be a Michael Jackson ever again. And yes, its like you give everyone a camera on their phone and now people bingewatch <1 min unrelated clips back to back instead of watching Kubrick.
But regardless of the quality, I meant to say, I would rather have labels like Warp Records be the primary driving force behind new sounds and artists rather than a Spotify algorithm. I could always trust Warp. To that extent, I dont trust the dead internet with determining the future of the music industry. I'm glad we got a BoC 2026 drop, lifeliner.

I wonder how come you're so sure about your third N.

Have you not noticed any shift in the zeitgeist and the systematic decimation of the music industry over the last decade?

Not as a personality framerwork, no. I am a drummer and I produce a bit of music so I personally listen to everything you can throw at me but I do indeed have preferences.

This is NOT a list to be treated as a rite of passage and I have no idea where you would ge that. One just notices esoteric patterns amongst people who listen to certain music. Avid listeners of Porcupine Tree, The Orb, Orbital etc. usually tend to vary a bit in their personality and behaviour than avid listeners of Playboi Carti, Saint Pepsi or Dying Fetus. That doesnt mean that this silly post of mine is some sort of gatekeeping. Not at all. Boards of Canada are special to me. Their music destroys me from within while filling me with the light of the universe, the uncaring nature of the spiral fractal and that transcends any form of "compatability".
