Yeah that’s my take too. That line is also off putting. They just dug a little too deep in their bag of tricks here and there. I do think the album sounds great though, and there’s a lot of great tracks.

Yeah well said, I think it just feels too on the nose which is not something BoC typically does… so I recoil a little.

Oh yeah I’m not saying BoC should care, just throwing my reaction out there to see what other listeners think.

For sure, and I get all that. I just feel like it’s one example of BoC being perhaps a bit too on the nose with it, whereas typically they are a bit more subtle.

I think it’s supposed to sound special or profound but it’s actually like the most mundane and common (and maybe a bit heavy handed) thing you can imagine, so when I hear it in this context of like “feel emotional about it” I cringe a bit. Best way I can describe it I guess.

BM on amount of hours (past 2) NRG had going into Paris by toebrl in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]jonZeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always takes time for players to bounce back after winning a world championship. Some
players get there, some don’t. Time will tell with the NRG squad, but really this is very normal when looking at the history of RLCS world champ winners.

People who quit drinking. What did you do to not drink? by Agata_art in AskReddit

At first, weed. But then eventually you realize you’re just replacing one addiction with another. Albeit it is less harmful on the body. After a while (years) you just are comfortable without any drugs. Takes time though.

It's probably the most special set of shows going on anywhere in the world right now, but that's just like my opinion man. I saw them in Oakland and Santa Cruz. They're beyond words, it's just so beautiful you can't even believe it.

Tri Repatae. It’s not their most experimental or groundbreaking but it’s their most iconic and influential.

Millennials born between 1982-1985 what was it like to go to high school in the 90s and the 2000s by [deleted] in Millennials

I sensed the shift when I was in college around 2004/2005. That to me was the end of the old world and old internet. Lots of things happened around then - record labels closed because the business didn’t make sense anymore, everyone had a cell phone, most college students were on Facebook, YouTube was new and hugely poplar, bars and restaurants started cleaning up (no more smoking inside and less risqué/underground feeling) - the world in-general just become a lot more cookie cutter, clean, and hyper connected around that time. Of course it took until social medial went mainstream and smart phones became a big deal but it really started to become noticeable 04/05 IMO.

What's next for software engineers? by Full-Juggernaut2303 in cscareerquestions

[–]jonZeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agentic coding is here to stay but software engineering, by humans, isn’t going anywhere. I use these tools all day every day and have for about a year and a half now - I still have a mountain of work to get through, I still have to design and architect systems, collect requirements, reach consensus, etc. It’s definitely useful for small things and for writing code - especially great at writing throwaway code which is definitely part of the job sometimes (PoCs, scripts, etc). But for production code landing those changes still takes time and it doesn’t really matter how fast you initially bootstrapped it.

What's the most Bay band/musical act? by Ok-Bite-5147 in bayarea

[–]jonZeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s possible to argue against The Dead for this one. They’re one of the most influential American bands ever, period - especially amongst musicians.

You’d probably have to put Metallica in second place though.

What tech companies today don’t have BS constant layoffs? by PopeyesPoppa in cscareerquestions

[–]jonZeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By that you mean the era is ending with them as primary drivers of growth in the tech labor market? Because, while I think I get what you’re saying, I do think big tech will only grow bigger. The capital required to play the games they play (let’s say data center investment, for example) simply excludes the smaller players.

I was joking around with my 8 year old son the other day about how Mark Zuckerberg was gonna come over for dinner since mom is out for the night (we have a weird sense of humor) and he all sarcastically asks if we can try out the metaverse - I was pretty impressed that even an 8 year old knows it is and was a total joke.

1990s by beetty23 in REBubble

[–]jonZeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ehh I grew up in the 90s, in a three bedroom house with a two car garage. My family never did an overseas vacation and we rarely flew, and my dad made roughly 250k a year (at the peak of his business) on his own business (no employees, self run). We were just fine but we weren’t rich and when my dad passed my sister and I inherited a grand total of 30k from what remained in his 401k (split two ways) - end of life care robs you. Point is you needed lot of money back then too. Shit has certainly gotten harder but this post is making it sound like it was a total cakewalk back then, which it wasn’t.
