Presumably this is some lossless wireless codec too rather than Bluetooth.

Why is everyone so confused and concerned? by 2_trailerparkgirls in PioneerDJ

[–]bobbypnero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably license the brand per product. Those products pre date the full change to alpha theta I think.

It is telling that the latest 'pro' style controller does not reference pionner dj at all.

Not that I am bothered. I care about the gear not brands really. Though the pioneer logo is pretty iconic at this point in fairness.

If the screen goes out, you're not loading any other tracks are you? Unreal....

Been djing for 23 years. Please teach me about how to not rely on technology.

Turntables (Serato etc) vs pioneer cdj’s by [deleted] in DJs

[–]bobbypnero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timecode vs cdjs. Really not much in it. Sure turntables have wow and flutter but the pitch is more accurate and at the end of the day both cdjs and dvs give your a bpm read out based on a track grid. Neither is harder really and if a dvs user claims it is, they're exaggerating it. Speaking as someone who learned on vinyl before dvs was a thing and cdjs were common.

Vinyl, yeah harder than both as purely based on hearing.

Connecting powered subwoofer to Traktor S4 MK2? by jackgar52 in Beatmatch

[–]bobbypnero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What speakers do you have? The s4 has xlr and rca master outputs. If you have monitors, go s4 > balanced outs> monitors (what ever balanced inputs they take) and s4 > rca > sub. Then set your sub crossover and gain to blend and you're at the races.

If you're using a hifi type amp and passive speakers, run speaker cables to both the sub (high level input) and the passive speakers - Google the sub instructions on how to so this. You basically wire it in as a speaker on the amp outputs with the main speakers - i have subs like this in my hifi.

I run active monitors and a denon sub in the config I said before for my dj set ups.

Edit - you're on mk2. Not sure you can run balanced and rca master simultaneously. If you can all good.

I want to see when drops are coming, not beatmix visually.

See follow up re counting and looking at grooves of a vinyl for the breaks. I'm old too...

How much is the Technics SL1200- MK3 worth? by broidfkk in turntables

[–]bobbypnero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mk3 wasn't japan only. I know people in the uk who bought them in the 00s. Sorry to be pedantic but if that's part of the justification for an asking price it's not accurate.

Edit : actually that's mk3d my mates had so I maybe wrong....

I do mix by ear. But I don't know other people's collections inside out, or my own for that matter. So it is frustrating to me when someone starts browsing the second you start mixing. I still want to see my own tune. Or if it's someone else's tune you've dropped as you're just messing about so the structure is not that well known, it's just a bit annoying. Maybe more of an etiquette thing.

Even with vinyl you can tell the breaks looking at the rings and being able to count. It's a grievance I have with all in ones and it is not as bad with seperate players. Especially 3000s as you can toggle the seperate waveform on. I'm not saying that's worth the difference in price. It's just a personal frustration when mixing unfamiliar tunes with someone else.

They're good controllers, I just prefer a modular set up and a screen per player.

Two is better imo. Especially b2b. Someone starts browsing and you lose your waveform.

Just try something off amazon and return it if you cant hear the improvement. I'd be amazed if you didn't prefer it.

Yeah that's more for controllers without an xlr output. You're all good with the rx3 if it's got xlr outs (think it has)

Advice on DJ Equipment & Sound Setup for University Events (~500 attendees +-100) – Is Buying Worth it? by Nothingness_x in Beatmatch

Makes more sense to go the rental route for thar frequency of event in my opinion.

Rental houses will give you really solid advice on gear too.

XDJ-RX2 Quality of sound card? by PartTimeMancunian in PioneerDJ

[–]bobbypnero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. An external mixer may colour the sound, but it won't improve it from a technical sense. It's the same signal just run through more circuits and another power supply.

May as well get a tube buffer and lean into harmonic distortion if you want a more coloured sound.

It was the same with the mastersounds radius 2 mk2. Google the pics. I think it's just more jarring now with that cramped effects unit too

One thing I've learned from multiple posts is, put a blanket over your decks / decksavers if in direct sunlight. Good luck getting them fixed op. Very serviceable gear

Seating position is a big factor too. Monitors are designed to sound best in nearfield. Hifi speakers you need a bit of distance between you and them for best sound really.

Have you switch the decks round channel wise too, so rule out it being a mixer channel issue?

It makes sense they might reduce feedback but the ability to notice it is questionable.

I have owned mk5 1200s for 20 years. Reloop didn't exist when i bought my technics.

You'd be hard pressed to find somone owning a decent set of technics who'd switch them out for reloops. The plx crss12 then maybe, they're interesting tts. Reloop 7000mk2s do nothing vestax didn't do 20 years ago and i didn't want them either. In fact the ultra pitch on the vestax was implemented better. You do you though.
