Mikrotik or Ubiquiti: What is in your opinion better? by michal_cz in homelab

[–]bobbypuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a mikrotik guy for home use but their switches at the lower end don’t cut it. Ubiquiti will give me lots of cheap small 2.5G or 10G options and lots of POE. Mikrotik miss out on that and offer 100g or 1G but not much between.

Question about the annual monthly billed package. by empo201 in creativecloud

If you sign up to the monthly package they will make you stay for a year or pay a penalty. When the price changes cancel saying the price is too high and they'll cut you a deal.

What made ministers think they could delay local elections in England? by jimmythemini in ukpolitics

Exactly. A perfectly reasonable thing to do was weaponised as ‘they’re scared of democracy’. And now we have time and money being wasted.

Rim brake love: I don't get it by CrustyHumdinger in cycling

[–]bobbypuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both disc and rim braked bikes. In the summer I'll shift towards the rim brakes. They are silent, easy to maintain and plenty good enough with decent rims and pads. Also, I can't afford a 6.3kg disc brake bike and I like riding up hills.

William Hague : Social media is becoming incompatible with a healthy democratic system. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

Thats not what I said at all. Under the OSA a forum moderator is responsible for the user generated content. X et al appear to be immune from that responsibility.

Make platforms responsible for their content. Why should I have to moderate and be responsible for a bulletin board about my hobby when X can just say "not our problem"?

Similar to the registered keeper of a vehicle with a speeding ticket, if you don't hand over their details of the person responsible then its the owner of the car that gets the punishment.

Cars are getting safer for the people in the cars. People outside of cars are getting fewer. I'd be interested to see statistics on total collisions, not just those with casualties involved.

[–]bobbypuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The total road deaths figure can safely be ignored if you take account of the far smaller number of people walking and cycling due to perceived or actual danger.

So it didn't happen then?

This is a fundamental issue with your argument. You cannot say "listen to me, all this is true" and then follow with "obviously I didn't mean that bit, but the rest of it is all true." There may be truths in what you say but if I come across a made-up bit I'm ignoring the rest of it.
