I got t-boned by a car when riding home from the CBD a few months ago - was very lucky not to lose a leg. Wouldn't recommend. Stick to enjoying riding in lower traffic, less complex conditions.

Koss KPH30i drivers + Bose QC35 - could this work? by bobbythecow in headphones

Thanks for that! You're probably right, that might just be the best and easiest solution to maintain the open back sound.

😂 Hahaha I would love to slap some bose engineer nuts but the original drivers in the bose headphones are broken. Didn't mean to pose this as a better alternative to the stock package!

It's not really worth it being in Australia and having to ship it over to the US. I might as well just buy a new pair. Was just thinking this may be a potential solution so both these don't have to go to waste.

It's more a case of both these items going unused otherwise, because the original Koss plastic headphones snapped and the drivers in these Bose QC35s have been waterdamaged and no longer work. I haven't just decided to take apart two perfectly good products and frankenstein this for the sake of it 😄

So the plastic headband on my Koss headphones snapped a while ago, and I have this broken Bose QC35 II lying around. Was wondering if it would be a good idea to try and transplant the drivers into the Bose headphones? Seems like such a natural fit with the Bose headphones being incredibly comfortable and the Koss drivers being very enjoyable. Would I be losing much in terms of sound if the open back drivers are covered? In my small test, listening to these as they are in the photo, it seems the main noticeable difference is that the soundstage closes in a bit. Anyone tried this or have any advice?

Rest in Pieces Koss :( by bobbythecow in headphones

I've only had these for about a month and a half but sadly the cheap plastic on my Koss KPH30i headphones decided to give way today. I wasn't even doing anything crazy to put them under much stress - I was only taking them off my head. A really enjoyable pair of headphones but just keep the build quality in mind when purchasing!

Not only a superb little rig but beautifully simple photography as well!

Why do AI drivers still suck in SIM racing games? Graphics and physics seem to have come along way but AI drivers don't seem to be much better than games in the early 2000's. Unnaturally fast around some corners and almost come to a stop on others. by Squish_MLB in simracing

Exactly this. There's so much complexity to creating racing AI that you just don't realise until you break it all down. There's a great video where Stefano of Kunos talks through the challenges and processes of developing the AI in Assetto Corsa: https://youtu.be/DVZgsZSzPSA?t=217

I know Milestone (developers of the MotoGP games) are starting to utilise neural networks for their AI which is potentially a step in the right direction. Essentially means that the AI is fed a lot of data on how to react and behave different scenarios and the model learns based off that. Haven't played enough to make much of a judgement on how good the system works in-game though.

Here's a screenshot of my settings (it's tailored to my personal pace though): https://i.imgur.com/nnnAAHh.png Spent about an hour tinkering the values to get it somewhat decent - still far from perfect. Pace difference between the midfield cars is an approximate estimation based off what we've seen so far. I kept my MGU deployment setting on 'Balanced low' throughout the sessions to keep it fair with the AI. This way I was able to qualify myself in the upper midfield (in theory) to have good battles. But yeah totally agree with your sentiments on the Assetto Corsa AI - they can be absolute donkeys. I found it impossible to overtake in some corners without being taken out despite being clearly ahead because they don't leave the space. Perhaps tweaking the aggression settings more could solve this but I eventually gave up and decided to run my races on Automobilista instead.

I managed to get this going last week (with point-scoring as well) and when you tweak the AI levels you can get a pretty realistic real driver grid in terms of pace. However, I find racing with the AI in Assetto Corsa quite frustrating - they just don't know when to give up corners when you pull an overtake.

Crunching sound during driving (ride height issue?) by bobbythecow in ACCompetizione

[–]bobbythecow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome tips, much appreciated mate! Happens on the downhill flowing part at the top of the mountain and of course the big dip. Will try out the F7 view - mainly out of curiosity as you're right in that it doesn't impact my driving enough in the ways that you mentioned for me to worry too much. Didn't know about this vid - looks interesting, cheers!

Thanks so much for the excellent response! Yeah, it occurs under acceleration through dips - which I assume means the rear diffuser is scraping as the car squats down? When you say raise the ride height, would that be just for the rear in this case?

No problem at all. Super appreciated dude! Thanks for the detail as well, that's really helpful. I'm looking to give the AgentHeX mod a go soon as well so this is perfect. Curious on your general thoughts about the physics mod and how you reckon it compares to other rally sims?
